Bill Me Later Plan

There's a lot of merchant's and companies selling in our forum.
Would it be nice if they have a Bill me later plan on their website.
You don't have to use your credit card or other forms of payment.
They offer 3 to 6 to 1 year of payments on your bill. But this depends
on how much you purchase. More info on the link below.

Use your credit card. And then you can pay in installments. No company is going to consider something like this because it leaves them unprotected should you defualt. If you don't pay a company in California, they're not goint to fly to NJ to pursue it legally. An they don't want to sell the debt to a collection agency at 1/2 the price either.

The only merchant that I'm aware of that uses "Bill Me Later" is TireRack.

I have an account with them myself. you don't need to be financially challanged, sometimes it makes sense. I use it when I'm between paychecks and I have to have something NOW! I simply just pay it off when I get payed. I don't like to use my CC's very much at all. I have low to 0 balances, and I'd like to keep it that way.

I realize that BML is pretty much the same as CC, but I just don't like using my cards. I only keep them for my credit rating anyways.

normtrum,

Same thing here. I don't want to use my credit card especially on online
purchases. I have a bad experience on this. I don't know how they got my CC and put in $2000 worth of merchandized.

There ya go....another excellent reason!

I've actually used it twice with TireRack....once with $1200 worth of tires, and some H&R sways.

Credit cards don't help your credit rating if you don't use them.

I think everybody is happy in their method of payment.
I'm just trying to give some tips for safer transaction on line.
Some companies that participate give some discount.

If you're so financially challenged and living paycheck to paycheck you probably shouldn't be buying BMWs and accessories, especially on credit. Why should a vendor have to finance you, and take the risk, using BML just because you are unwilling or unable to pay for what you want when you want it instead of waiting until you really can afford it? YOU should be carrying your own burden for credit, not the vendor. Remember, poor financial/credit management and people living beyond their means is what got us into the current economic mess.

I think the world has changed big time since our grandparents first started using credit cards and switched over from cash in the late 80's. They tended to pay off their mortgages by age 50, and paid their balances every month and used cash to buy small things like cars. Yet, they had to choose and often cut back on options or even buy the model lesser than what they really wanted. I saw people at work who are clearly in their 40's doing 30 year mortgages and putting only 35% down. Not that they didn't have any equity, just that the homes they were going into were 7 figures.

Today, anybody with fair credit and a pulse can drive a BMW, and accessorize it. We have leasing. It's not about what makes sense, it's about possession. So although you and I believe one should be in a good financial place prior to buying a BMW (because there are many fine alternatives that cost far less to purchase and operate), we're in the minority.

I didn't say I don't use them, I said don't use them much. In this case, sure it helps you. If you have a high limit, say 15k, and a very low balance, say 1k or less, and you've made on time payments at more then the minimum, then you're golden.

Nowadays you'd have to be dumb not to buy gas with a rebate card. Even though it's only 1.81, 5% back is better than 0%.

Many of us don't carry a balance on credit cards, but I have to admit, there still is a tendency to spend more with one. When it's cold hard cash, we think twice about a purchase.

I totally agree. I have 1 cc for work, and 2 for personal use. The 2 personal use cards rarely have a balance on them, and are used primarily for emergencies, and when we travel.

thats a stupid idea. always ALWAYS pay in full. even for financially challenged people. I seriously don't understand others that doesnt pay their CC in full. It's not free money. It like a snow ball...a 1k CC debt turns to 2k in no time

What kind of financial challenged person

a) owns a new bmw
b) has money to mod it

Buy a civic and learn to pay your bills without needing credit - this is the kind of behavoir that has the economy where it is - no one living within their means!

That is absolutely false.

If you have a credit card you never use and close the account, you will actually hurt your credit. I know it sounds messed up, but here is why. About 30% of your credit score is made up of your capacity, or how much you owe/ how much credit is available. The lower the amount owed over the amount available the more points you get. By closing a credit card you are actually making the ratio higher, which gets you less points.

If anyone wants information about how your credit score is calculated let me know and I can give you more information.

I think you're misunderstanding me, or maybe I wasn't being very clear. The comment I made was referring to "how to raise you credit score". I wasn't telling him he should or shouldn't pay off his balances.

Unfortunately the way credit scores work, if you want to have a high credit score....say above 800, you have to have credit cards. And yes, the problem with this is that people let their balances get out of hand, start paying the minimum amount, and a nasty cycle begins that can be pretty hard for some people to get clear of.

Can you explain why, I had 3 cards I didn't use anymore,I had used them before but paid them off and they had like 10k avail. on all 3. I was told it was hurting my credit score buy having them open, cause at any given moment I could charge 10k. I closed them all months ago.
