If anything, they might void your exhaust warranty because of it. For example, if you were to bring the car to the dealer for some rattling in your muffler or for some other exhaust related problem they might not cover it since it was modified. They won't void your entire vehicle's warranty over a resonator delete though.

Just make sure if you have an engine problem, put that piece back on, because they may blame it on that!

sorry you guys are right its just a muffler :P
my friend has an acura TL so his muffler is in the mid section of the car so i was used to saying mid muffler okay restated question if i do a muffler delete, will it void my entire cars warranty, or just my exhaust warranty? (still keeping the resonator)

car warranty: No
muffler warranty: Yes...since your muffler will be sitting in the garage or trash bin. ![]() BTW: exhaust is the whole 9 yards of components from engine block to muffler tip. Therefore, exhaust warranty: limited No.

Your entire warranty will not be void, however if u get a check engine light this can be a problem and could be causing you to be paying for repairs. The exhaust bolts to the engine thus u modified it...

Buy a BMW Performance exhaust and not worry about it
I say this despite the fact there's no way I'd shell out the kind of money they want ![]()

I talked to the head dinan guy at Sterling BMW in Newport Beach and he told me that you can can do what ever you want to the car from where the cats end all the way to the end of the car. if you do anything from the cats forward towards the engine bay then it better be done by bmw or have bmw certified parts on there. so if they were picky a aftermarket intake could be considered as a problem. some chose to report most dont.
so yes a muffler delete it totally fine. Thats why im going to do it to my 330i |

alright. let's get it straight. you can modify your car in almost any way you want. however, under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, your dealership cannot void the warranty on any part other than the one you removed unless they can prove that the modification you made affected the component that is now broken.
thus, if you remove a muffler, the warranty on the muffler is voided, but that won't affect the warranty on the cats, manifold, engine, etc. it doesn't matter if you use a BMW exhaust, or something by someone else. if they harrass you about using non-BMW Performance parts, tell them to blow it out their exhaust. now, regarding the cats, you can replace anything you want. however, keep in mind that there are federal laws regarding that. you can change the cats pursuant to your warranty, if they are damaged. You can also replace the cats yourself, but your exhaust shop better be willing to stand up and say that they were damaged. otherwise, replacing the cats won't just void your warranty, it's illegal (that's right. if you replace the stock cats with high-flow units, but the stockers weren't broken, it's not just a warranty voiding issue, it's a legal issue).

Had mine about almost a year, no problems, no voiding, just got comments on it from the dealership instead.
