where is the oil going?

Ok so I had my car in with some fuel pump issues a few month ago and it took the dealer a while to fix it (car was in with them twice, one time for nearly a week). I did get a loaner of a brand new 5 series though :-). I believe they replaced 2 different pumps.

About a week after getting the car back the oil light came on and the oil was at min. I was on a trip so I called bmw and they told me the oil to buy and I did so and all was fine again. Only trouble is that was in November and today the oil light came on again and wouldn't you know it the oil is at min. again?
I have probably only put 1000 miles max since november so what gives?

Where all da oil at?

I had a similar problem soon after my purchase. Turns out the computer was receiving false information regarding the oil level. Dealer cleared the code(s) and all has been well since. FYI, had the same problem with the fuel level indicator.

BTW, it's normal for the car to show maybe a 1/2 quart low every 7500 miles or so as well ......
