Spring install in Seattle???

I mentioned in another thread that my H&R springs came in yesterday. I need some recommendations on where to go to get them installed. It would be good if you know the approximate cost too.

I highly recommend Group 2. They charged me around $450 for coilovers installed. Not sure what springs would be. These guys know there stuff and really friendly. Once you see their garage you'll know what I'm talking about.

it costs around 400 with alignment...

my mechanic friend's garage... took him awhile because it was his first time and we didn't have spring compressor but he said overall it was easy. i don't know if suspension on M3 is any different...

+1 I also recommend the Group 2 Moters because Resonable prices and nice quality for installation.

wow...super pricey on installs down there. i was thinking of buying springs down south and getting them installed there...good thing i didnt.

i've been getting installation quotes up here in BC for about $250-280...cheapest i got was $220 taxes in (cdn dollars too!) and these are from experienced shops.

i was thinking it's a bit high myself. the price i was quoted was $475 + tax, but that was roughly what i'd been hearing from others on the forum. oh well, i'm committed now. the price is factoring in having an alignment too. $95/hr: an hour per corner and an hour for the alignment. he said the rears might only take 30 minutes each tho.

edit: actually forgot to mention that group 2 offers 10% off if you're a BMWCCA member. so that would amount to almost $50 off.

I personally think you are crazy to swap the springs (only springs) on a M3.

what do you mean exactly? i know a ton of e92 m3 owners that have swapped out the stock springs for the H&R Sport springs.

Even though I don't know much about suspensions myself, I may have learned a few things by reading the suspension section in this forum.

1. Not using a set of matching shocks with the springs is a big no-no.
2. I assume the OEM suspensions are well engineered especially the M. You may be killing the whole driving dynamic that the car is designed for, with the $300 springs. If the spring itself can improve the handling of an M3, why do people spend $70k for a car again?
3. Doesn't the M3 have variable suspension? Not sure what that'll do if you swap out the springs.

But then again, what do I know.

I am not a suspension person myself, I have read a little bit on the 335i e92's with sports suspension and after market springs and I believe that the lifespan of the OEM shocks/struts are significantly shortened when using just the springs. Some people say you can go about 50k miles before you have to change your entire suspension again. This might be a viable solution for those who are not planning to keep the car past its warranty. I am planning on keeping the car for a bit longer than that, so if/when i do lower it, it will be with Coilovers. The M's suspension may be able to handle the increased stress from lower springs for a bit longer...
