CEL Help!!

my car has 13,600 miles and i went and had my oil change and routine maintenance done yesterday. The car felt a little better after the oil change and everything was great. this morning after my class i waited for my friend to get out of her class!!

okay the car was on, heat was not on, the radio was and so were the windshield wipers.

after about 15 min i feel it bogg down and idle at just above 500rpms and then i see a big engine light on with half of it not colored in. It looked like my CEL from when i had a vw.

has anyone had this problem and what did you do to fix it if it needs fixing? i will call bmw and make an appointment if i need to just have alot of midterms soon and dont feel like wasting time over there if its not serious

thanks you for your help and input!! the specs of my car are in my sig if that matters
