Can someone help me understand the benefits of each? I want to try out the Dodo was on my sparkling graphite metallic car. I am between the purple haze and blue velvet. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

The Dodo Juice soft waxes are said to offer slightly more depth and gloss to the finish where the hard waxes are said to offer slightly more durability. The biggest difference is going to be in the application of the wax and how it feels. The hard waxes are more like a traditional paste wax. The soft waxes, you can apply literally by your hands and you can sink your hand or applicator pad into the wax. The soft waxes feel slightly gritty, which you want to massage you hands together to melt down or fold the applicator in half and rub together to break down. It's easier to apply the hard waxes thinner IMO and also last longer.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with either wax, both are outstanding.

Keep us posted on which one you end up with and what you think of it.

ABSOLUTELY.
I also have and occasionally use the 50/50 with good results. The Purple Haze has these "little crystals" () in the soft wax. When the wax is applied and then removed there is a "magnification" of the shine. It's really hard to explain ........ almost like the car is glowing? ........ It causes me stand back with admiration everytime. I kid you not. I used to detail cars while in school and have never enjoyed a product's end result so much. Easy on and easier off.

I'm wondering if the same effect is achieved with the other Dodo Juice soft waxes ........ I know DetailedImage.com had samples available. It would definitely be worth trying them out ...... especially with the darker colored cars.

Why not use both.
Use the purple haze for the protection and the Blue velvet to get the most shine. Best of both worlds.

it maybe a beginner question...

i brought jetseal and CG 5050 wax a while ago, didn't have a chance to try that until this weekend. The 5050 paste wax is really look like a candle, with hard texture. Is it suppose to look like that? or i just store too long? (3 months actually)

Any special technique to apply such hard wax? I spray some QD on the applicator and then put some 5050 on it. not sure if this is the correct step.

Your application is right.
When you had the wax stored, where was it? Ideally you'll want to store carnauba waxes in a cool place (I actually keep mine in the fridge). This will keep the wax from drying out and losing it's oils etc. prematurely. The 50/50 is made to take very little to spread on the paint ......... a sign of a quality carnauba.

+1 - Very much like an alternate to Dodo's Double Wax. Put a layer of Blue Velvet down followed by a layer of Purple Haze (Hard followed by Soft). Be sure to follow the directions though - at least an hour of cure time between coats.

I have fallen in love with Dodo's wax - both Purple Haze and Supernatural - after trying many different brands, Dodo is the one that makes my jaw drop every time...

I couldn't agree with you more!

My favorite now is the Supernatural ...... yeah, it's a little spendy but OMG the results are great! Purple Haze has a "glowing" type of effect while the Supernatural has a "deep & wet" effect .. ......I know what you guys are thinking.

so I guess my 5050 are actually dried up then, the surface is still oily, but i would say it's solid, not paste. when i waxed my car yesterday, I used a spoon to dig up some wax, and then put it on an applicator, so the wax didn't spread that well.

If the wax "balls up" on the applicator pad then it's probably dead. The wax should be hard though and will have a buttery/oily feel to it.

My 50/50 looks like it has cracks and is really really old ........ that's how it should look. As long as it spreads onto the paint without marring it's still in good shape.
