the GTOs are fast and can be made really fast. Most of the guys that own them seem pretty cool--on their forums and stuff. They are true "car" guys.
there are some who "hate on" us BMW owners..LOL If I told you my last run in with a GTO--it would sound completely made up and scripted like out of a movie, so I won't bother..except to just say that it was at a two lane, red light, where you could see no traffic or law enforcement for a good mile, and the GTO was occupied by two very young men (probabably 19 or 20), who actually rolled down there window and said some very aggressive, cocky things, and were asking for a race they were sure they would easily win. Like I said-the conversation would be like out of a movie--and these boys knew nothing about the bmw, what xi means, or tuned 335s. but instead of being cocky, I playued totally dumb.. My car is aggressively tuned (JB2HHR) with R off and 94 octane at the time. Plus catless DPs and performance filter. Currently the fastest Xi on dragtimes-runs low 12s pretty consistently. Anyway, at launch, I got 3 cars immediately--and I mean immediately. but since we had so much room I knew they would keeo coming. So I will just say that by the next light where it was time to slow down, I was at 120 and GAINING..now about 8 car lengths. I will also say their reaction was, well priceless when they pulled up to talk.

the biggest problem with the gto is the fact that is comes with a pathetic sized rear tire (245's on the 17s and 235's on the 18s) and to fit anything appropriate (such as a 275) in most circumstances you need to roll the fenders....
it also irritates me how close the clutch pedal is to the dead pedal - i could never fit my foot between the side of the foot box and the pedal - and i'm a SMALL dude.... the trunk was also a waste.....stupid crash regulations forced them to put the gas thank in the trunk consuming half of the usable space. but the lsX motors are great.... simple and very effective... |

My best 1/4 stock with my 5.7 was 13.5 at 105 at Silver Dollar Raceway in Georgia. My best in a stock LS2 GTO was 12.9 at 108 at Gainesville in Florida. By the time I was able to drive an LS2 GTO I was better with the launch technique.

Good launch against the caddy. I think is more difficult to be consistant with 6mt. For me probably sunday 29 march at track if not rain... A+ |

I am impressed now more than before with that launch for the caddy on the vid--1.95 60 ft. on street tires. I took my 09 CTS-V to the track--first time there-- this last saturday in southern Ohio and ran a best 12.3 with a 2.0 60 ft. Best trap was 119. car is so high torque (551 stock) that it takes some serious practice. But holy gates of hell once it is launched--HOLD ON!

I went to Kil-care...in Xenia Ohio (not far from Dayton). Nice track..but more important for me...they opened last saturday, and the tracks near me in michigan open first saturday in April. I want to go back this saturday with both the V and the newly tuned and "fmic d" 335Xi and see what map 7 and a little 100 octane can do. But as of now they are forecasting rain... link to kilcare: http://www.kilkare.com/
