Scirocco 2.0T DSG vs 330d Auto
Been a few times now in a mate’s 2.0T DSG – I am so impressed with the DSG box, the changes are so much quicker than a slush when under full throttle, almost instant – stunning!
After he drop’s me off we have a quick run on a dual carriage way. He got the jump on me, but in summary the Scirocco seems as quick as the 330d to about 70, perhaps the 330d started to catch slightly, but we didn’t go above legal speeds. I thought the 330d would be much quicker, but looking at parkers its 6.6s (330d) vs 6.8s so there isn’t much in it. ..

I'm assuming the Scirroco would be a fair bit lighter than the 330d?
If you are thinking about a remap, just do it - the 330d is so much better afterwards Mine was done by Evolve and chucks out around 300bhp and 500lbs |

Yes it's a good point but I guess most people who buy them have never driven RWD.

Had a DSG Golf GTi for about a year at same time as my 330d.
My 'comparison' road (i.e round a corner as fast as you dare, nailing it to until a certain point) had the 330d about 5mph quicker at 90mph. DSG gearbox fantastic, could play with those flaps all day long Think the Scirrcco got a few more bhp than the golf, but against the new 330d the bmw would have the edge. |

DSG Box should be a lot faster change than any auto as in effect you have two gearboxes so when you say the changes feel instant they are as the next gear is selected before you leave the previous one.
Had a Scirocco for a couple of weeks last year (DSG) and the Drive and quality is not far behind BMs, To get the best out of them they do need to be Driven hard most of the time whereas something like your 330d can be Driven fast whilst still feeling relaxed. Should be getting a GTi Pirelli next week which should be quicker than the Scirocco as they produce an extra 30hp (same as the GTi Edition 30)
