Better performance when IATs are high. Smoother in VANOS switchover range 4200-4500rpm range. Slightly improved fuel economy. Less top end roll off (for 6ATs). A few other minor things as well. You will probably like it more

I guess I can understand if the hardware doesn't support them, but if these are upgrades that can be made to the software/tuning I would like to think they would be available to Rev I owners.
Good question! I'm thinking if they are not available for Rev I owners then Shiv is achieving the performance from the CANBus integration.

If you are afraid of hitting the race gas map, you can essentially disable it by setting both the 'on' and 'off' button to Map1.

But yes, we will post up map1=map2 versions of these maps within the next few days

Simple fix...........go into the "User Adjustable Parameters" menu in the Procede Reader software and set both On and Off button map switching to "1".
This way no matter what button you press on the remote, you can only select Map 1.

Damn...........Shiv beat me to it.

Technically, Rev.1 users can run these maps. But the results are unlikely to be a solid as with Rev.2 users. This is because we are monitoring valve timing angle and a few other engine related data parameters (through the CANbus network) that the Rev.1 cannot. So it's not just the issue with the tuner code unfortunately.

Are there plans on releasing the official maps for us Rev.I users? Race gas map even?

TIA

I argue the numbers are so small, they are negligeable. 90% of those who actually read, merely scan the document while the 10% really read it. Word by word. 50% of those who read it, don't quite understand what it says. They join the ranks of those who scan it...sadly true fact of life.
Suggest you don't put 70% for the UT reading. Make that range 95-100% so 1% bump actually does what the current 20% bump does. Why? Because human beings are ilogical and want more all the time. Having 70% just entices the huge percentage among us who can't help but want to get another 25% without any extra mods noi matter how dangerous it might be. Something in people makes it so we can't resist wanting a little more if its only an illusionary appearance. Ask a marketing major why they mark shit up by 10% then offer a 25% discount instead of just offering 10% and skipping the mark up step. Same shit. Our natural tendency to want more, a lot more at no extra cost at all.
+1 you're so right...very insightful post.

Yes indeed. In fact, the new user software we are finishing up will allow the end user to convert any map into a race gas version of itself.

I think you need to change your qualifications. I thought it was only original Rev I owners or original V3 PNP Harness owners.

Maybe I am missing something here but, is there no more Stage 0? If so what are the prerequisites for each of the stages now?

Shiv, did the BETA have a more aggressive timing curve? Closer to the knock limit? I know that you are planning on making this parameter a user adjustable...

Edit

After a 1hr drive the I would say these new maps are better than the Beta, though not sure they are stronger. Much smoother in the various transitions throughout the RPM range and when shifting gears at regular speeds. I will dyno both and see what come up.

Stg 1-- stock and mild bolt-on (intake, cat-back, dps, etc,.)
Stg 2-- intake and no cats
Stg 3-- intake, no cats and FMIC

There is some flexibility with those requirements of course. Just don't use a map that is too aggressive for your mods.

Yes, the earlier CANbus maps had a more aggressive base timing curve but more conservative IAT/timing compensations. The new maps are the other way around and works better.

And yep, you will be able to adjust the ignition correction % soon

Has the firmware been tested on a Rev 1 for these maps.

Man is my butt dyno well calibrated or what!!!

You can really tell when the engine is being pushed to the knock limit. It provides good power but it is not a free reving and you can feel the struggle.

I do agree that these are much better maps (smooth, consistent and still very powerful).

With race gas and the ability to reduce / disable ignition correction, people will be breaking 1/4 miles in no time.

+1 My question as well. The file name still says 108, and the modified date on the .bin file is 3/27/2009 at 20:28 which matches the bin file posted in the zip with the 3-24 maps. I don't think it is different, but just wanted a confirmation.

We need a little summary table for idiots like me, at the end of new map announcements, for people who tend to not keep up with each iteration:

Example Only! First 4 make links to where the dowloads and/or instructions live on the vishnutuning forum:

New Maps = Y (3.3)
New Firmware Required = N (108)
New PROcede Reader Software Required = N (3.1)
New or Modified User Adjustable Parameters = Y (User Torque Value Method)
Hardware Version = Rev II
Canbus Activated Required = Y
Beta Maps = N
Race Gas Map in either MAP = Y (Map 2)
