Running aftermarket wheels WITHOUT tire pressure sensors...

...has worked OK for me so far. I had bought my new wheel/tire combo before I found out that the '07's have in-wheel sensors. I thought a dummy light would have illuminated at the very least, but I've driven over 50 miles and haven't had any sort of error or caution messages from the car. I was planning on installing a set of sensors, but now I think I'll just save the cash and continue to check my tires myself as I have on every other car I've owned

fwiw, my wheels can be seen here:

e90 doesn't have in wheel tire sensors, only e92! Even the 07 e90s have all shipped so far with the regular ABS system so thats why you don't have a problem. My e92 doesn't have sensors either but I'm in Canada, Canada has no in wheel sensors on any model.

It would be nice if you're right, but E90Fleet has stated all '07 US e90/91/92 have wheels sensors as does the Tire Rack.

Also, the OP in this thread said his sedan came with sensors and that he swapped them into his new wheels...
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33933

FWIW, I'm up to 89 miles without any errors on my "sensorless" wheels

Even tho your wheels dont have the in-wheel sensor, the nice thing about these BMW's is it'll still use the ABS sensors to monitor your tire's pressure like the 06's. Atleast, that's what I got from reading the manual.

That thread is an e92, not an e90. So far I haven't seen any posts about e90s having sensors in the wheels. But I guess in the end all that matters is that you at least don't have an annoying light!

My E90 manual says I have TPMS and the regular tire sensors.

So far most 335i sedans have come though with ABS based systems despite what BMW was telling us earlier. All 335i coupes (well, not Canadian ones) have come with the sensors from the factory.

so all Canadian models (E90 & E92) don't have the sensors in the wheels?

Man, I wish I checked the iDrive menu before I dropped my car off...

Can someone with a 335i Sedan check their iDrive for a calibration menu for TPMS.... its in there similar to the calibration for ABS tire sensors. I'm guessing if the calibration menu is there the car will support TPMS whether the tires have the sensors in them or not.

I swapped the wheels out on my 328xi coupe and it did turn the warning light on in the dash. The new wheels didnt have the sensores installed so now I live with a flashing yellow light on all the time. Theres no way to reset the TPS if the wheels arent equiped. I will be buying the sensors and installing them soon!

Guess I should have thought of that before I mounted the tires!

Yeah, that's all that matters to me at the end of the day - I check my pressure regularly myself, so this is technology I can live without

I have 07 335i Sedan and it does not have separate tire senors just like 06 models.

Only the US E92 has the in wheel pressure sensors so far ( and some 5 Series )

The E90 will get it some time soon, to comply with the US requirement
