Cleaning the intercooler

Does anybody know what the proper way to clean the oil out of an intercooler is? I did a search and couldn't find anything. I will be installing a occ as well so I don't have to do it again. But I am noticing a slight build up of oil.

Get some acetone, pour it into the intercooler, block off the ends, slush it around a bit, unplug and pour out.

Repeat until you're happy.

What is acetone and where do I find it? After the slush around with the acetone can I flush it out with water, drain then let it dry?

Have you actually tried acetone as a solvent for motor oil? Just wondering (though I know it dissolves many things).

Scalbert advocates the use of gasoline...

+1 but remember to dispose of waste legally.

Also install oil catch can to keep intercooler dry. Oil acts as an insulator and reduces heat transfer from intake charge to cooler. Probably one of the cheapest and most overlooked mods.
