Hard Water Stains on Windshield - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

So I've noticed my windshield has hard water spots around the areas untouched by the windsheild wipers. I've done a search and didn't seem to find anyone similar problem on their windsheild. I've tried auto glass cleaner (although not a reputable brand), clay bar, and vinegar. Nothing seems to be getting this stuff out.

I plan on picking up some Stoner's glass cleaner with my next order at Detailed Image. Anyone else have this problem or can suggest something to get rid of this??

The water spot remover from Chemical Guys took off ancient hard water spots on an old car I had that I cleaned up before I sold. I had tried everything you just mentioned and steel wool, only the water spot remover worked. Wear eye protection and a mask if you use it...it smells horrendous.

Mix up some distilled water and distilled vinegar for about the same effect of the CG stuff. I also use the CG Water Spot Remover and as soon as you open the bottle you can smell their main ingredient ...... vinegar.

Hmm, maybe I'll try a stronger concentration of distilled vinegar. If not, I'll try CG. The spots almost seem to be embedded int he glass. Maybe I'll try and get a picture when I get home from work.

I assume I should just use a microfiber towel to remove?

Actually, I would use a cotton terry cloth towel for the extra "abrasive" effect. GL!

GC stuff did nothing for me - didn't touch the spots at all - had to polish them out!

I used Poli-Seal with white pad on a PC, and it worked for me.

1Z Glass Polish. Works great and can be done by hand or machine.

I've read about this when I googled my problem. I recently bought some #0000 steel wool. Should I use that with some vinegar?

I also have Menzerna PO106FA polish. Would that be safe on the windsheild?

^+1. I did the same thing. PC 7424 with white pad and finishing polisher (fine swirl remover). The result is perfect. It will even remove minor rock chips and your glass will look brand new (except big chips)
