ANOTHER 09 with HPFP failing!!!
All this time reading about people's fuel pump failing, I was hoping I was one of the lucky ones that it wouldn't happen to.
 Classic symptoms... long crank, engine light, reduce power, etc. Car is 8 months old, with only 5k miles on it, weekend car. I 'm really considering trading my car in for an M now.  Should I drive it to the dealer in limp mode or have it towed?

 Let me guess, you're using Shell 93 Oct, too? I was thinking the same thing (trading in for M3) but the lost even though I haven't negotiate anything will be huge. |

I'm paranoid about this and I'm waiting for mine to blow. When that happens I'm going to have the fuel tested if possible and also ask to the see the dead pump or talk to the techs and ask them WTF is really happening that so many HPFPs should fail and what they think the actual failure % is.

I had absolutely ZERO signs. Everything was working flawlessly prior. Sucks cause here in Houston I cant even schedule service until next week!
and yes i use premium gasoline like shell and chevron

yeah man i really thought the fuel pump failure arent THAT common until last week my brother inlaw's 535i fuel pump failed. Enjoy the loaner haha

It's not that big deal anymore..
Happened only once to me in 25K miles. But I'm getting into an M3 when I do ED this summer.
