DIY- Rear Fog Lights
|
![]() |

US cars can have the rear foglights enabled by replacing the light switch with the Euro version. These are the same lamps already installed as adaptive brake lights. While the rear fogs are switched on, the adaptive brake light function is disabled.

Hey guys! To be honest with you I cant be sure the 792 will work with a Xenon equipped car. Obviously it seems to work ok with xq_zhu's car, which from what I can tell seems to be a Halogen car. I have someone ordering one right now, so maybe we can see of it works and go from there. -JD

^^^ oh I forgot. I just ordered from you on tuesday or wednesday. I was the guy who thought he may have ordered twice. Anyways my VIN would have shown I have halogens, but I did the Euro Xenon swap. So whatever part number I have it still works.... I have 61 31 6 932 796

.Is it problematic to then swap it out for the xenon one if it does not work? Hopefully it will work and just look good with extra knobs and switches :rocks: |

Man I swear that I was so not thinking about doing this mod at all guys, but man when I contacted JD (wellz, I was just gonna give it a shot and see how fast he replies), he replied me almost immediately and let me know that he is able to get the switch for me. I was totally thrilled with his service and so decided immediately that I am going to do this...
Hehe even though my car has the halogen headlights, I still ordered 792 instead of 796. I sure hope things will work out on my car when I get it!!! Man I can't wait!!! Oh yeah and I love the write up.....!!!! ![]() |

...everybody made it sound so easy....1) removing the a/c vent and cover piece holding the switch..took me a minute with no tool...i was able to just stick the tips of my finger on the right side and release it...than openned the door and did the same on the left....removing the switch panel was even easier using both hands... 2) removing the clip..okay...after reading all 11 pages...i guess i have to some how rotate the gray piece...i don't know...i tried rotating the gray piece in all directions...haven't had any luck....came back to my computer to read all the many pages....gotta try it again... 3) removing the switch from the trim piece...omg...what am i doing wrong?...i'm holding down the clips...trim piece is not moving....ah...i gotta give it another try later... |

You actually rotate the grey clip as I remember - it's like a 'handle' - pull it up - away from the switch and it will rotate liek a handle. Does that make sense? ![]() |

yeah...so removing the a/c vent cover and switch panel took about 1 minute.....no tools required...remove the a/c vent panel first....than lower switch panel....
while driving to work...i was able to push down on the top to unclip the black stopper that was holding the gray handle...enabling me to push the gray handle to the side releasing the wire clip....okay...it wasn't hard at all....another minute or less at a stoplight....i was able to unclip the lower (shorter clips)....just push down and push in your fingers to gently push up the holders on the panel....you can hear a small "pop"....after you remove both lower clips...the rest just comes right off....another minute.... Just Installed Switch!
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that I just installed my switch (thanks JD!) and it works just fine! Installation took about 15 minutes. I don't have xenons so I ordered part number 61 31 6 932 792 and I noticed that the front fogs do NOT need to be on for the rear fogs to come on. That's right, all I need to do is turn on the headlights and then switch on the rear fogs and they come on. Is that normal? I thought the front had to be switched on first. Anyway...that's my $.02 Thanks for the easy DIY! |
