Bad scratch, front bumper
Hello guys, I don't frequent this side of the forum often, but today....
I must.I slowly went down a decline and look what happened! ![]() ![]() Ok, so now for the fix, I've heard of wet sanding + touch up paint. I've gone and bought the paint which consists of the base coat + the gloss. How should I go about doing this?? =/ |

dude if you never detailed or wet sanded DO NOT TRY IT!!! I'm a sub par detailer myself and i fucked up my hood from wet sanding, its not as easy as the pros make it seem to be. And besides that looks like a job for a body shop not something you can do in your garage.

Ouch, that sucks.
![]() That's way too big of an area for touch-up paint to fix. Some PDR (paintless dent repair) places do wetsanding too, I would recommend starting there. I brought a family friend's new 535 to a PDR place I know well and they worked magic on it - literally two weeks old and a rouge shopping cart slammed into the side door, scratching it up. They wet sanded and it really looks great now. Far less aggravation than dealing with a body shop and insurance. For damage like yours, this might be just what you need (since it's in a pretty hidden place to begin with).

I've done the exact thing..
Its on the bottom so its not noticeable until you're at a low angle. If your nail catches when you go over it then its way too deep to repair with conventional methods. |

How about some splitters?..... that would cover it up.

Buy a lip or splitters. To fix this you're talking about sanding, filler, priming, spraying basecoat, clearcoat, etc. After all is said and done you'll have nearly spent what a painted lip or spilters cost, and even more if u factor in time spent.

Had the exact same problem with my front bumper except the scratches extended all the way across. Had it repaired to like new condition for $150 in Escondido, CA (northern burbs of San Diego). It was a great deal considering that other body shops quoted me anywhere from $300-$650.
