To clay or not?

I am planning on my first full detail this weekend including claying. I also just installed a rear lip spoiler on the car, so the paint on it is only about 10 days old. That seems too fresh to clay. Should I just seal and polish it or not do anything to it for a few more weeks?

Also, do you guys all take your license plates and brackets off when you detail, seems like it would be much easier to run the buffer in those areas.

Thanks!

I would clay the whole car but the spoiler. I would not touch the spoiler at all, no polish, wax or sealant. Call the body shop that painted it and ask how long till you can polish, wax and seal.

Agreed with zaxjax. I take the plates off when I'm doing a full detail, very rarely for maintenance washes or even in-between waxing.

With fresh paint there is no need to clay unless its rough from paint ovespray, wait at least 30 days before waxing or sealing...ok to polish.

We always remove plate and bracket when peforming our detail services
