K&n replacement filter (installed)

anyone installed the K&n replacement filter on a euro spec 330i? please input because i did and i felt slightly smoother acceleration and gear shifts and a slight increase in sound but was honestly expecting more of a difference

if you were honestly expecting more of a difference, then you had a really unrealistically high expectation from a filter replacement. You're not going to get any appreicable increase in HP by only replacing the filter, no way, no how.

That is what I got, and expected.
Not bad for $40 IMO
You may not be getting full benefit from the K&N if you haven't removed the charcoal filter element is my guess.
Also, it takes a little while for your car to adjust.

my car doesnt have a charcoal filter element because it is a euro spec and the filter has been in for approximately 2 weeks now. anyway, saving up for the gruppem intake but I hope i can figure a way to ship to Lebanon!

i didnt have very high expectations, but the difference was tooo slight, i at least expected a little more. it feels almost just like stock with the replacement, im sure it differs with other cars, i think K&N could have done better for the e90 filter.

+1

Its been about 3 weeks since I installed the K&N. Improvements readings (actual and even butt dyno) is minimal. Is there more improvements felt after the ECU adjusts itself? Is a ECU reset (via battery disconnect) recommended to realize the supposed benefits on the new filter?

Yes we know you guys have the conical filter vs our panel filter...but the principles should be the same.

i wouldnt count on that, i think the ECU responds faster than to wait more than 3weeks and a reset is useless and not recommended at all

Yeah, if it's been three weeks, it is what it is. Euro spec cars probably don't see as big a benefit, since their intakes are less restrictive.

It's not a huge difference anyway, more throttle response, and quicker revs when you nail it. I doubt any HP gain outside of a couple.

I know you can get them on e-bay and amazon.com
Don't forget you also need the filter cleaning system.

sure i'll get a stop watch. Compare results? Any other kinds of tests you guys suggest.. to tell whether or not there really is a worthy increase? like... 40mph rolls... 60mph rolls... 20mph rolls... ? and floor it to 100mph? or 80mph? or... maybe i am doing too much lol???

so............ its installed.

and... the result...

A slight difference. not much, but for 50 bux. Why not?!. I have pics which I will post. To compare the difference of factory/k&n. That whole air.. instake enclosure is HUGE lol. I don't think there is much you can really do but to do direct intake. I mean like make it a straight tube from front to air filter to engine, not to this big box lookign enclosure. Then again.. im not that great with science of cars i am still a student.

Anyway, I don't know if i was just driving more aggressive today. but i liked it lol.. and it felt better than any other day. Like others, I doubt much an upgraded. I actually got worried that it might have been a down grade lol, but whatever.

So I say it wouldn't hurt. Come tot hink of it, it is slimmer than the factory one, so I assume that allows more air to flow??? what do you guys think ( i will post the pic tomorrow to shwo u)

My first mod.
