Thinking about the earlier comment about practicality, I always found the coupe to be more practical than the saloon anyway (if you ignore kids for now). I found the boot an easier space to use (longer I think) and the rear seats fold down too (unless someone has specced it on an E90).

I wouldn't consider an E90 (you've already discounted it anyway) to improve on carrying capabilities but I beleive the A4's are significantly better in the boot department (my Brother has one & I remember him commenting on this when shopping around).

You'll struggle to get a proper load-lugger which will compete with a remapped 335i for enjoyment. You'd have to take a total change in direction with the Range or something. You'll drive it in a completely different manner and speed suddenly wont be an issue.
