Brake pads

How much brake pads left on the brakes is acceptable to you guys? I have had a few situations where I have had to lay on the brakes and I am concerned that they might be getting a bit thin. I'm at 9,500 miles and I am going to get my oil changed at 10k, and I am trying to decide on whether or not to get them replaced when I go in for the oil change. Also, at what point will BMW cover the pad change? I'd prefer to have BMW pay for them if at all possible.

when your brake light comes on BMW will replace them for you. You are more than likely fine with the pads that are on there now. you've only layed on them a few times? what are you worried about then?

you get free pads at 3mm.

The brakes still work great up to and past the iDrive telling you that the brakes are gone.
