ALPHA-post stories and pics

On June 1, 1951, US Air Force Colonel John Paul Stapp sat in a sled that was poised on a 610-metre deceleration track. Moments later, rocket thrust blasted him down the track and into a braking system.

For a brief instant, Stapp endured 48 times the force of gravity, or g?s, with a rate of onset at roughly 500 g?s per second.

As his own volunteer subject, the colonel became known as the world's fastest man when on December 10, 1954, he took a bone-and-tissue-punishing 839-metre sled ride at Holloman Air Force Base in the US. In less than a tenth of a second, rockets on back of the sled sent the vehicle at 19 g?s with more than 18,000kg of thrust. Stapp's ride hit 1018 km/h - nearly supersonic speeds - before coming to a dead stop in 1.4 seconds, pushing him to 40 g?s. And, for an instant, his 76kg body weighed over 3 tonnes.

The colonel literally saw red for eight minutes as his eyeballs pushed against upper eyelids, tugging at their attachments. He also suffered double vision for 20 minutes.

Some more...

Alpha usually only comes in man (no sexist).

Each and every one of us try to be ALPHA. It's a built in genetic mechanism.

Really ?

I know a hell of a lot of 2nd in command people that are simply fantastic at what they do, but have no desire to be in charge.

I also know a lot of people who operate just out of the lime-light, letting alpha-male wannabes knock themselves out before nipping in and getting what they want. Bit like the clever monkeys letting the alpha-male defend the pack, get into the blazing fights but then quietly shagging away while the alpha-male sleeps.

Depends if it is a perceived social position in the heirarchy that you crave from your peers - or the actual rewards

Being so one-dimensionally an alpha male is also a weakness.

More than one way to skin a cat.

I love this thread.

Fucking legendary.

Amusing that we can spend 3 pages debating why someone I have never even seen post before has been banned, and yet someone comes up with something truly funny and worthy of dicussion, and non of us get it... haha!

I'd love to see the faces of the guys that open some of my threads...my thread material is usually "different".

This is after all an off-topic discussion...listen in...

I agree with you in that case Davey, but was only using humans as an example due to the confusion earlier since people hadn't a clue wtf I was on about . Since you guys know what I am referring to now let's use the whole animal kingdom in this discussion and you will see that your theory is flawed because in the animal kingdom the top dog/alpha male is the only one allowed to breed with the rest of the females until someone either beats challenges/beats him or he dies from injuries.

Best get in touch with the Oxford English Dictionary and ask them to remove the word cuckold ....

Take Hyenas for example ... that is a purely matriarchal society, where the females have bigger "dicks" than the subservient males.

And how do you explain the Amazons ?

Still flawed ?

See "cuckold" above ...

Being the Alpha member of a social pack gives you a clear position or pecking-order in the heirarchy (through strength and social connections), but does not necessarily guarantee you will have sole rights for mating with who you choose. But if all you are interested in is that preceived social position ...

Hyenas humble Lions in efficiency, and regularly bully them. Hyenas also have a top dog (alpha female is actually the correct techincal term) in their social pack. And they decide who mates with them. How is that different to your definition of "Alpha" ?

And the Amazons ?? From the Greek, and giving the name to the South American one-breasted warriors ??

I agree with what you say. The word ALPHA can have many meanings for example it could mean living up to the expectations of what another male expects, it is a vast study and I think you've cottoned on to a small part of it. I'll post more pics of what I mean below. But in generality a hyena does not strike me as an ALPHA entity. It's a scavenger who relies on its beta tendencies to scavenge on a lion or equivalent. Is this really dominant behaviour?? Sure it is in the hyena scheme of things but it is not ALPHA as it just is not the way you would want to be. A lion who is a true ALPHA male who claims his prey by killing them, fighting off potential threats to his pride and surviving is a true ALPHA.

More general ALPHA pics:

Guy saving women from certain death in a makeshift harness takes real balls TRUE ALPHA behaviour

Aware he is a fictional character but an ALPHA one at that

Here is a true ALPHA pic

And another one I like since I spend a lot on protein powder too.

Your fault lies in not differentiating from actual Alpha members and the perceived traits of an Alpha member.

Any numpty can mimic Alpha traits. Seriously, why do you think BMW sell so many cars ? ["Hey, Alphaboy you're driving the Ultimate Driving Machine"]

Physique and ability to fight does not make you Alpha. To be truely an Alpha male you require social skills/graces and a bit of the grey stuff. Protein powder can't help you there.

In fact, you can quite easily be an Alpha male without dangling from a rope and flexing muscles. A normal bloke/lady plucking that woman from the water is equally as brave and selfless in their actions without worrying about Alpha posturing.

Most Alpha male wannabes are more interested in each others "Alphaness" then any of the girls will be.

Maybe Helen, as a member of the fairer sex, could comment ?

As I said there's many ways you can interpret ALPHA. Each one of them pics above shows ALPHA traits being carried out in their respective environments.

Guy from rope- Risks his own life with a makeshift rope to save someone he doesn't even know.

Ali-Shows his dominance in the environment of boxing knocking the fuck out of GF.

The bodybuilder one there is playing on the role of how females are viewed in some parts of society (HUGE NO SEXISM HERE).

All of these represent ALPHA traits and them being carried out.

Fair enough

To me ALPHA is just a greek letter, maybe better if you say "Alpha traits" ..

I'm off to kick a few hyenas ....
