I think that's pretty common from what I've read. If you do a search you might be able to find some good suggestions on how to repair it and/or avoid it in the first place.

And no, you cant take it to the dealer, unless you really have no value for your warranty.

would the brass fitting be better than the jb weld? the jb weld holds it fine but there is a boost leak there. everytime i step on it i hear the pressure being released from that area.

JB weld will break in a short matter of time and hello boost leak. Anyone who has any experience with BMW's know das German plastic is craputo. Nipples go all the time.

Any competent shop that can tap and fit a brass fitting in there should be able to do it.

I did that as well installing the AA BOV. the best way to go about that is to use a box cutter blade and carefully slicing the oem vacuum hose that's fitted on the manifold. After a few slices with a fresh blade, you should be able to pull the hose right off.

So I took it to my friendly dealership, told them what happened, then paid for a new intake manifold and labor. Still kept my warranty as well.

IMO, it's ultimately your car and you can do the brass fitting if you want. But it's a $40k car, so that's why I spent the extra $$ to have it fixed right. You live and you learn, it's just a part of tunning/modding cars.

no offense to AA, but they are going to rape you on that. the quote they gave me equalled the amount for a new manifold. You can find a used manifiold from a salvage yard for about $250. Plus about 3 hours labor to swap them out.

Call ASR and get a quote from Abid, he is already familiar with it.
