mothers aluminum polish on painted wheels

my dealership replaced two of my oem wheels last year because there were bubbles in the paint, which resulted in paint falling off my wheels. they said it was due to impurities in the paint at the manufacturing level. so they replaced both wheels under warranty and i was happy.

looking back, i just put 2 and 2 together, and realized that i probably caused it by applying mothers aluminum polish on my wheels every 2 months.

ooops.

so the lesson of the day, dont use this stuff on your painted wheels.

and read instructions on bottles before using them.

Yep..it looks like it ate the clearcoat. one way you can tell if your wheels are not cleared is apply a little polish on a peice of cloth..if it turns black after rubbing then the wheels are not clear coated. if the cloth doesn't turn black, stop right there.
