Help, dealer telling the truth?
Due to a fender bender water somehow leaked into the trunk compartment and shorted out my amplifier. Now, it's all covered under warranty however the dealer is saying after they install the new amp, new software has to be loaded up to "synchronize" the car with the new amp. This is including the engine management system. Does this sound right to you guys? thank a lot

You can request it but I doubt they will. You can't tell them to fix something and tell them how its done. They got their protocol.

I had something real similar happen (down to the fender bender, flooded amp, plus a full vente mocha into the dashboard and my lap) and as far as I know they did NOT do a s/w update.

When i had the dealer install the sirius sat radio in my car, they had to reprogram it in order for it to work. I wish i knew which version software they put in, but i know it's newer than what i had before because i dont have "sticky" brakes when i release them when the car is in drive on cold starts.
