Fix it ticket for Tint help :O - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I was in downtown mountain view (castro) and was about to leave the area to go back to school... and I get pulled over by a cop on a motorcycle just for tint. I was like really? I mean sure if I was speeding and you wanted to add that on to my speeding--that's fine, but just to pull me over for tint.... anyways... so now I have a fix it ticket.

the "WHAT TO DO" for me reads:
C. (Correctable Violations) If the "Yes" box is checked on the front of your ticket, the violation is correctable. Upon correction of the violation, have a law enforcement officer or an authorized inspection/installation station agent sign below. Registration and driver license violations may also be certified as corrected at an office of the DMV or by an clerk or deputy clerk of a court. The violation will be dismissed by the court after PROOF OF CORRECTION and payment of a transaction fee are presented to the court by mail or in person by the appearance date. --then theres some other junk about liability insurance.

First of all, are there any norcal people with cop friends that would be willing to sign me off?

And if not, then do I have to (1) pay the fine and (2) get an officer to write it off?

Before, I thought all I had to do was pay the fine OR get it fixed (and not pay), but this is a bit confusing.

Lastly, do you know how much the fee is.

pay the fine and leave the tint alone or

get the tint removed and pay to have it checked off and then pay the $25 dismissal for the court.

by the time you pay to get it corrected and then have the tint put back on it might be cheaper to just pay the $150 and go on with life

just rip off the tint and get it signed off by any police officer.. then install it again..

yeah i got banned from a moderator who i've never seen post here before... i think he was from the 1er forum.

that whole process seems like a pain. tinting two windows for me from my shop is 120.. plus i have to pay for the fee and what not.

yep,

25 to remove tint

50-75 to retint

20 for an officer to sign off (they usually charge unless you find a nice one or know somebody)

25 for the court dismissal

25+50+20+25= 120-145 plus all the time you waste

I just got my tints and they said they'll remove for free, and $20 per window to put on, so $40...

120 5 windows got metalic tint. retint any window for $25. just present your receipt

not to mention sometiems they are ass about it and wont sign if off..

in my case i pay the fine sicne everything was stripped get limo!

I paid 230 for all 6 (six) windows

windshield is ceramic and cost 100 alone...
