hey guys with a tune how often should you change your oil? and when we say change your oil we mean just adding more oil right?

I change my oil every 6 months... with Dinan Stage II tune

no.. an oil change is an actual oil change. You drain the old oil, and fill it up with new one. You have to change the oil filter as well. This oil helps lubricate the mechanical parts of the engine, and in time, the oil will deteroriate (lose its functionality), gunk up, and metal shavings from mechanical parts will gather in the oil.. that's why you need to change them.

If you tune, I recommend oil change every 5000 miles. BMW tells you to change your oil every 25k miles or 1 year, which is a cruel joke.

Tune or not 7500 miles which is basically an extra one in between the ones BMW pays for. I would do it for sure with a tune, if it was a lease with no tune, I would probably just do what BMW recommends, but I do mine every 7500 minimum.

1 year isn't bad for those who don't drive much

I mean, personally i drive about 1k a month

but i know people who drive only a few hundred, if that... maybe a total of 3-5k miles in a year

so for them, an oil change once a year isn't so bad

hmm that is true

I daily drive my car, and accumulate about 18k miles per year. I would do an oil change every 5k miles or 4 months.

I never heard of BMW telling anyone to change there oil at 25k. Dont you mean 15k?

The numbers are just numbers, and reversible I hear. So 15K or 51K is just fine.

The oil they use is teflon or something like that. Synthetic oil, it lasts forever and never gets dirty.

Hey their transmission fluid is for life as well as the diff oil. Never have to change it, or top off. They use sealed units. That said, I change mine at 5K but that because I bought the car, and like the piece of mind on my tuned car.
