Dealer charges???

Hi, all.

I am in Calgary, Alberta and ordered a 328xi at BMW Gallery here. Everything was straight forward, but I want to double check these numbers are about right. They offered $1000 discount.

Freight and PDI: $1995
Dealer Admin Fee: $299

And, they want to sell 3M protective film at $695 and tire insurance at $599.

Thanks.

Tints, boomerang, etc.. are always cheaper anywhere but the dealer. I turn them all down.

Tire insurance... I have no idea. It seems like you NEED to insure everything these days, I insure my home and my car.. nothing else. The money I save by declining insurance on all the various things that are offered (fridge, sofa, digital camera, tv, printer, laptop, tires, etc etc...) I can perfectly well afford to have the odd thing go wrong and replace it myself.

All just my opinion of course.

BTW... my freight and PDI was $1695 (I think it has gone up since then), admin fee was something like that.

Oh, and $1000 off a 328xi sounds pretty shitty (not even 2%?). Check around on this forum to see what people in your area are paying, I wish I did before I bought my car!

the admin fee is a bullshit fee...the dealers are simply trying to squeeze a few more dollars off you...

a 'fee' for administration??? thats the cost of doing business!!!

if you look at the newspapers, and read the fine print on BMW deals, it will say "plus administration fee (if any)..."

its really a bullshit fee

it annoys me so much

i got '1500' off msrp, but really its only 1200 off, bec they get you back with the 299 admin fee

so next time ask for 1800 or 2000 off your 3 series, and do not go in to the sales persons office until they agree to it by phone

my sales person called me a few times and i forced the 1500 off my e92, only to get dinged by the 299

there are other brands available for my next car!!
