Who Wants Headers for Their 2009 328i's?
All,
I think the 2008 328i's have the same problem but I am uncertain. Regardless, as you all know, no one on the face of this earth makes tubular headers for the 2009 328i's. I've asked numerous experts and searched for months with no luck. I'm attempting to get a local speed shop to entertain the idea of using my car as a mock up and then produce them. At this point I have no idea of cost. If I can show there is a market out there maybe I can get these gents to bite. Right now they are in the "thinking about it" mode. I have an LET ECU flash but it is being stifled by a "Service Engine Soon" light which, I'm being told, is probably canceling out the flash due to a cat delete I did. See below dyno and pictures. Darker brown plumbing is where the cats used to be. I gained 14 HP by just removing the cats. I bet I could get another 10 with real headers. Also, I have people working on the light as I type. Warning, if you want noise remove your forward cats!! Thanks http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q..._photos/ed.jpg http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/CIMG1294.jpg http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/CIMG1291.jpg http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/CIMG1283.jpg |

Headers would be cool if the price is right. But I still have 20k miles left on my warranty so serious mods like this will have to wait

Read this thread before you waste time and money developing these headers:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=200533 They don't think it's worth putting a header on the car because the stock manifolds are so good. And they're a race team.

No, he uses the stock header because they didn't find any advantage to using an aftermarket header. He said the stock one is really good and no need to change it.

You mean that there isn't any power advantage even with a CAT? that's very good info tho!

Did you read the thread? There's no point except to waste money.

I think thats a great idea!
Skywagon
Awsome numbers from your primary cat delete btw! 15 hp (185.2 -> 200.5 hp) just by deleting the front cats, thats monster! You must be the first guy to do this, I like how you showed the inside of the cat after you cut it off: http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/CIMG1283.jpg As for your error light, I think you can resolve that issue by getting an o2 simulator.
