E90 Short Shift Knob doesn't fit??? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

My short shift knob from MorristownBMW came in today, but much to my disappointment, it doesn't fit on my car (2006 330i)!!!! The knob itself fits perfectly, but the new boot bracket is much bigger than the original and it won't fit no matter how hard I tried to squeeze it in.

Following are some pictures with the stock boot on top of the new one. You can clearly see the new boot is not of the same shape and is apparently quite a bit larger than the stock!

You can also see the part # (BMW Part #: 25110404454) on the box is also correct, so I don't know what the heck is wrong. Could it be that they put the wrong item in the box or something? Anybody else had a hard time fitting it in? Do you think they will exchange the part? This is my first mod on the car, and it is not starting well!! Please advise.

Hmm, maybe try calling them and sending it back for another?

Great. So nobody had a hard time putting the boot in. Guess I would have to give them a call on Monday :mad:

Any chance that the part is actually the correct one but it's the car's interior that has changed?

looks like you got a right hand drive one instead of a left hand drive one

the short shift knob comes connected to the boot by an aluminum band. I got mine about two months ago and love it.

Just received the replacement from MorristownBMW today and this one fits perfectly

Like you said, it seems like they shipped me a RHD one originally. Oh well, everything is cool now!

Just a followup to this thread ... my dealer (Zimbrick) ordered the exact part number specified and lo and behold today they can't install since it doesn't seem to fit. I told them it was probably a right-hand drive version and they agreed. The dealer is going to investigate further to determine what the problem is.

Sorry to hear you have the same problem as mine. Morristown cross-shipped a replacement to me so all I had to do was to drop the bad one back in the box and gave it to the driver.

I would def call Morristown. Mine fit like a charm. Took me about 5 min. to change it out. And was def one of the best things I did.

Some closure on this issue for me ... the dealer ordered a new short shift knob, same exact part number, and this time it arrived in left hand drive configuration. Installation was done for free by the dealer, took 2 minutes and the new knob is very nice indeed ...
