Decided to fit a M3 diff
Detailed pics on page 7.
Since my original Quaife fitted diff got damaged due to poor workmanship I decided to have my tuning shop do what I was told was impossible. I decided to give it a shot and fit a E90 M3 diff. Since everyone said that is was not possible and after viewing a couple of photos on the forums of twisted side shafts I decided that it would be worth the try. The final drive on this diff is very short 3.84 so the car really kicks when it is on the go. Off the line I can say the car has not really benefited but I am yet to VBox test to confirm this. On the roll it is really impressive with immediate thrust in any gear in comparison to the rest of the gears. The biggest benefits are in fifth and sixth where the car closes the clock easily. My intention is to now test various final drives as they are readily available for the M diff. In terms of traction and handling I can say that the M diff is far smoother than the Quaife. Power delivery can only be described as much sharper. I have done close to 2000km now with this diff and can say that I personally prefer it to the Quaife.

It was off a wrecked car so it did not cost me much. You going to need the M3 sideshafts and the driveshaft to make it work.

Holy moly! Wow! Plz describe in detail how you got this to work! M3 driveshaft -- how far up? Half-shafts -- they fit to wheel hubs OK? Amazing!
M-differential lists for about $1750, driveshaft $600, half-shafts $450 each. Definitely want to grab this off a wreck. Someone in the states has to try this out. Manual tranny. Pretty much guaranteed to withstand whatever abuse Shiv or anyone else can throw at it. Tischer: 33102283006 $1,791.54 $100.00 $1,433.23 RMFD FINAL DRIVE

This is epic ! Thanks OP ! I knew BMW would not modify the e90 body THAT much for the M3. They had to stop somewhere...
I would like this diff along with a final drive such that it would not modify the stock drive ratios. Anybody knows if this would be possible ? EDIT: Wow, checked out and the gearbox ratios for the M3 manual and 335i manual are the same ! So I think that fitting a 3.08 final drive on the M3 LSD keeps the stock 335i 6MT drive ratios...nice EDIT 2: The DCT M3 differential has 3.15 final drive ratio, pretty close to the 3.08 of the stock 335i 6MT...

what about using an E46 M3 diff? externally it seems similar to the E92 one...
Please give us some details, it would be a great alternative for the welded rings E92 |

There are no electronics connected to the diff per se on the E9x M3. The electronics they mention in the marketing manuals are more to do with traction control and skid control that are linked to the braking system. There are no electronics whatsoever on the diff.
stressdoc I do not have much detail as the install took me by surprise. The sideshafts from the M3 fit directly in the hubs. We used half the driveshaft of the M3 and half from the 335 auto. That's where the two components marry. The 335 driveshaft needed engineering work to be slightly shortened and the completed driveshaft balance. All in all it took a day and a half. My tuner felt it was more a challenge than anything so we weren't expecting to use this as a permanent mod but something just to keep the car going till the OEM diff with Quaife is repaired. Now I have decided not to take it of hehe.

Yah 7000RPM and assuming OEM Wheel/Tire sizes in the back. And yah I noticed that right away, maybe now M3's wont start pulling at 120+ MPH Speeds.
