I was just quoted $225 for labor only - seems pretty fair

I am taking my e92 in tomorrow to have H&R Sports installed. $400 installed ( no parts) plus $195 for front and rear alignment. I searched high and low in Dallas and got two bids at $700 for the install. I just now want to "Git R Done".

Wow the shops in Atlanta costs a crapload uh? I say if you can't find anything cheaper, than go for the shop that gave you a $300 estimate. They are a BMW shop and they should know what they are doing, but I still can't get over the fact that there are no reasonable shops in Atlanta that can do the spring install for $200 +/-. I mean I understand it's a BMW, but a spring install is generally basic in nature. Good luck with finding the shop that you want

Car just lowered
I just had e92 lowered with H&R Sports. Nino at Euro-Connection was great. The job was $400. He did an alignment check and found the rears were fine and the left front was only off by .5 degrees. He suggested that no alignment was required and subsequently did not charge me. No problems at all on the road. I cant tell a difference in the ride. I'll challenge the car in turns today to see if handling changes are noticeable.
Pics to follow after new wheels are installed next week. Total drop was as follows as measured from the ground to the top part of the fender. Rear went from 25.75" to 25.0". Front went from 26.25 to 25.0. It is the perfect drop IMO. One could simply keep the 189 wheels and put spacers in the rear and the car would look ten times better than stock. |

An alignment check is definitely recommended. If you went with H&R Race Springs - bigger drop - an alignment change would likely have been needed.

i never looked..but..does the rear springs sit inside the strut?....i just ask because audi/vw rear sprints do not sit inside the strut.....so it was easy to bargain down on installation costs....(too lazy to take elevator down to the garage to take a look)

if the rear springs are seperate from the rear damper...the rear will probably be an easy DIY to replace the rear springs....so just pay half for the front only..and only get the front done......most shops charge equal rates for each spring replacement...
when i use to work on audi/vw....i usually did the rear springs myself using a jack and pipe (lowered the car using a pipe to push down on the springs..which allowed me to tighten the bolts without even using a spring compressor)....took me 30 minutes using a floor jack...and literally 15 minutes using a hydrolic lift..... front springs on german cars are usually housed inside the entire strut assembly....which requires removal of the entire strut assembly...using a spring compressor to compress the spring to unbolt and take out the stock spring safely...and compress the new spring and put back inside..and put the entire strut assembly back in.... anyways..if you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty...sometimes it's fun to DIY...and you learn more about your own vehicle.... and hrc...i notice you are in walnut creek, ca....i use to know a shop near walnut creek that does exhaust ($60) and spring installations (front springs$100) extremely cheap...(i use to live in danville, ca)....urgh...i can't remember the name of the shop...i'm guessing monument blvd. exit off the 680...urgh...i can't remember....if happen to head that way...i'll try to look for it and let you know....
they did so much work for me on my car in the past (4 years ago)....i just don't remember....
