Smile BMW Cd Changer or Ipod Module

I am trying to figure out if i should put in a cd changer or install the ipod module. I'm driving a 06 325xi and i was recently quoted $900 for the cd changer install. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was stupid enough to not order the changer when i bought the car. Have people installed other brands? if so what are some good ones. I'd also love to hear people's opionions on the ipod module. How much you paid and if you felt it was worth it. I live in Northern California so im looking to have this done around here.

Well, as you probably know, the E90 is retrofitted with the fiber optics and wires for an easy install for the changer. If I am not mistaken, you may have to change the little panel in the left side of the trunk. It too is available from your dealership parts department.

i know. The dealership was the one that quoted me $900. I thought that was alittle ridiculous. The Ipod kit would probably be cheaper then that..not sure why!

Circle has the CD Changer and kit on sale: http://www.circlebmw.com/parts/acc/65126964601.htm

iPod adapter is also on sale: http://www.circlebmw.com/cgi-bin/acc...records=Search

Both of these would require some install labor by the dealer. Dealers can charge you for install labor but do not let them charge for required CODING of the new device you install.

I'd print the above pages take them to your dealer and see if they give you a more reasonable price. Also, if you haven't joined a membership with BMWCCA will give you a discount on parts and services from dealers. Only $40/yr and you get a great monthly magazine (Roundel). Check it out at https://www.bmwcca.org/members/am/te...&ref_id=356777

i'd run pretty fast from that dealer!!! thats totally ridiculous to charge someone $900 for something that's basically plug-and-play. if you decide to go the cd changer route, pick one off of ebay and DIY. just to let you know, i've had 2 cd changers die on me, so i made it a point to never get one again.

at $900, its probably cheaper to get the ipod interface installed. and very worth it!!!! plus, it'll give you an incentive to start moving everything to your ipod anyways.
