No, holding down the trunk button sets off panic.

If you insert the key into the lock, then it will close all windows and sunroof.

It's because yours is a European spec car. The North American cars doesn't have it because of liability issues...

i think bmw is kind of stupid...they designed the key so that when you press unlock you can open windows and sunroofs, but if you press lock it wont close windows nor sunroof you have to close it by take the small key out insert it to the key fob on door handle n turn it. isnt it stupid?
why cant they just make unlock open and lock close like mercedes does

E9x's in Europe do in fact do that... open and close windows with the key fob, as you suggested.

But in litigation-happy North America (read: USA), BMW just wants to make sure they're not exposed to any incidences of bodily injuries caused by bozos who accidentally strangle or amputate their passengers.

As simple as that...

Also keep in mind that if you have Comfort Access (CA) you can close your windows while outside of the car.

After you get out of the car and close the door keep your finger on the 'ridges' for a few seconds. The windows and sun roof will start to close, keep your finger on the 'ridges' until they close all the way.

i'm afraid to use the feature....

because one of my rear windows might not go back up.....

how much would it cost to replace the motor?

one rear side window motor was replaced under warranty.....

Thanks for this thread!!

My SA is an idiot ... he told me flat out my remote will not open my roof.
Tried today for fun after reading this thread and .... voila .... top folds down and back up.

All this time I've been holding down/up the button.
