From Halifax...how long... - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Does it take to get to a dealer in Toronto? Is it on truck or train...

My guy wont tell me when delivery will be , but told me when its expected at port in Halifax.

they are allways shipped via Rail from Halifax. It could take between 4 - 7 days.

What did you Order?

Hmmm.... mine has been on a train for 8 days.... My SA told me that it was on rails from Halifax on Dec 10.

It could also be that it is allready at the BMW Distribution Center and is just waiting to be loaded on a Truck.

Was told about two hours ago that it is now due for pick-up just after Christmas. Seems like the dealership is idling for the next week or so. Would have liked it before Santa arrives.....

They are sent to Toronto by train. I know mine was and then delivered by truck from the railyard in Concord to the dealership. Total time about a week and a half from Halifax to the dealership.

I was told that they are expediting it on a truck versus the train. Apparently Road is faster than rail!?!?!?!?!?!?! Anyway, I hope I have it before end of Dec. That was the deal... Delivery in December. Who suffers if it goes to Jan 2? The dealership and BMW Canada I imagine in that they cant claim the revenue for 2009... I dunno...

so - since my deal was predicated on a 12/09 delivery date - what would happen if it was delivered until 01/10? Aside from their revenue impact - is there any impact to me? Do you think I could ask for something? Just wondering.

I doubt they will give you anything extra if it's not delivered by December. If anything, if the rates or promotions change in your favor they should change them to your benefit, but if they are not in your favor they will remain the same.

Ya...I figured as much. I really hope the int rate drops or there is some advantage, if in fact I do have to wait the extra few days.

I know I sound like a spoiled kid - but you have to admit, picking up a brand new BM'er is pretty fun!!!

Im at T&C. Was going to Toronto at first - but T&C seemed to want the business much more.

As an aside, I just got home from Autohaus on Steeles - I went to buy a gift from the parts dept.

Everyone in that dealership are rude asses!!!!!

This is my first bimmer. Ordered from BMW Waterloo, closest to where I live. I heard they had a good reputation and I am very pleased with the experience so far.

I was told the rates would drop come the new year (but not sure if Jan or Feb or even March), but also the residual value, so...

If you lease: probably at a bit of a disadvantage, since the drop in residual will outweigh the drop in interest rates.

If you finance, bonus for you.

Based on invoice cost from APA, I tried to negociated aggressively. They accepted, but asked that, in return, I sign on Dec. 31st. That also helps me, as that locks in my residual value (as I always lease first; then buy out the car in cash if I want to keep it after the lease term)

Julie that is great info! I lease too..but would prob never buy out at lease end in so much as based on resid value - you can find same cheaper through other sale..

I got mine from Town + Country as well. It was definitely a good sales experience, much better than any other dealers I visited.

Mine's due for pickup next week. The dealership will get it Tuesday so I'll pick it up the following day. It took its merry time and I'm sure its sat somewhere close right now but will make Christmas last a bit longer (as in into July....).

Am trying to source some 18" winter wheels right now. Not a lot out there (partly because I want black rims and RFT).
