New to the BMW ranks

Hi there,

I'm new to the BMW ranks - actually by less than a week. My last car was a 350GT Skyline Manual Coupe (not my first Skyline). I loved the car with a passion - it took a bit of effort to push it hard, which was cool with me! I attach a few pic's to show where I've come from

Ideally I would have gone with 330 E90, but the price put that car out of reach. Rather than go for a E46 or E39 with similar performance to my predecessor - I have decided to get a 320i M Sport (Actually I'm swayed into the BMW ranks as my brother has E46 and my father has E39 both M Sport and both quick!). One main reason I went 320i is the single point on my drivers licence!

I have been in touch with ARMA and they have quoted 5k USD even for stage 2 supercharger kit. I'm not ready to do that quite yet but bang for buck on the kw front this is reasonable to pay if installation does not cost an arm and a leg. They forgot to send the price of the M3 style exhaust - which will be my first move with a change in rear diffuser. I will post their price on that exhaust when it comes in. If anyone knows of a non stainless steel cheaper alternative in Brisbane please let me know! Also any hints on Aust. supply rear diffuser to accomodate the upgraded exhaust that would be great!!

So, "Hi Everyone", here are a few pic's of my new car. Took my first drive down the Gold Coast today and this is officially the lowest kw to put a smile on my face that I couldn't wipe away!! It's beautifully engineered and predictably evenhanded!! I picked out the colour combo and wheels of choice - look forward to reading more on what I'm in for.

Cheers,
Mark

Garage List
how did you manage to find a supercharger for E90 320?
might have to consider that one for my wife's 320. She keeps wanting to borrow my 335 ALL THE TIME... (especially when the sun is shining)

Welcome and congrats on the new car .....

I was looking into the ARMA supercharger about 12 months ago but was quoted US$10k + shipping. That was way too much but at US$5K, it's reasonable bang for buck.

Share the details on the exhaust when you have it although I doubt that i'll change mine. There are venders on E90POST that you can get carbon fibre diffusers from but it depends on the actual pipe firment as to whether it will work for you.

Good luck ...

Cheers VGR02, Yeah I like the look of the even power and torque on the supercharger - for all-round benefit I like this solution (I'm turning a corner in tast and not simply after pure power/weight). I'll post their price on the exhaust when it comes in. You make a valid point on the measurements of a rear diffuser... has me thinking of saving some $$ and having non-stainless header and made-to-order variable pressure pipes. Will take me a while to line up some ducks, looking forwards to putting together a sensible enjoyable ride

Mark

hi guys,
I've just joined. I'm thinking of ditching the RFTs on my 335i and replacing with normal Pirelli P Zeros.
Any recommendations/advice?

Hey Mate,

Welcome! P Zeros where on the 2008 M3s - BMW has gone to Conti's... which apparrently are good but give more road noise. I would say they are good tyres!

Talk to BDH2009 he has P Zero's on his ///M.

Cheers.
