BMW M Power App for the iPhone

Name: joy.jpg
Views: 10701

Happy 2010 everyone! Heres a nice little nugget. BMW actually has an M Power App for the iPhone. What does it do? Well, its like a G-Tech, it uses the iPhone's sensors in order to calculate:
  • Speed
  • Acceleration
  • Lateral acceleration (Lateral g)
  • Travel time for a specified distance
  • Acceleration to a specific speed

The App comes with three different skins: "Sport", "Lava" and "Midnight"

Here is the link to BMWs M Power iPhone App Page: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...9/g_meter.html

Here is the direct link for the App: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/m-per...344494968?mt=8

Very cool from BMW to make this App and nice Skins. Unfortunatly it does not calulate hp based on car weight and acceleration, like similar Apps do. TryDynolicous, it gives amazingly real hp figures:

BMW 2005 330i

30.10.2009 16:38
Acceleration

0-10 km/h: 1.24 sec
0-20 km/h: 2.39 sec
0-30 km/h: 3.20 sec
0-40 km/h: 4.68 sec
0-50 km/h: 5.50 sec
0-60 km/h: 6.19 sec
0-70 km/h: 6.85 sec
0-80 km/h: 7.53 sec
0-90 km/h: 8.21 sec
0-100 km/h: 9.69 sec
0-110 km/h: 10.64 sec
0-120 km/h: 11.64 sec
0-130 km/h: 12.64 sec
0-140 km/h: 14.45 sec
0-150 km/h: 15.78 sec

Elapsed Time

60': 3.76 sec @ 35.3 km/h
330': 8.51 sec @ 90.9 km/h
1/8 mi: 11.89 sec @ 121.0 km/h
1000': 14.66 sec @ 141.9 km/h
1/4 mi: 16.99 sec @ 155.6 km/h

Miscellaneous

Max Speed: 158.9 km/h
Max Acceleration: 0.60 G's
Peak Horsepower (wheel): 162 kW (=220 metric hp)

Slowly waiting for the registration email to come in so I can adjust the skins. :P

Does suck that it doesn't calculate HP, but it's free, where Dynolicious is not.

K, first thing I've noticed is that if you don't go right when you press start, it'll totally skew your results. I want an app that senses motion. (the other app I use has a tree, and that provides you enough time to get going, too).
