Not a happy 335Ci owner

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegrap...001021,00.html

Looks like someone in Sydney not happy with his 335ci or the service he is getting from his dealer. Would you fill your car up with lemons and park it in front of the dealership to get attention like he has ???

Good on him! I really am hoping for the Lemon Law to be introduced to this country because it really is needed. They were discussing this in the parliament if i remember hearing correctly some time ago but nothing came from it. The yanks have this law so why shouldn’t we, I mean all brands have there lemons and it really isn’t right by car makers to just leave customers hanging with dud cars that they produced.

That's the one reason why I refused to change over from (E90) 330i to 335i. BMW Sydney made me a very attractive swap over price in Jan'09 but no thanks.

My cousin bought a 335i demo with just 1,165kms on the clock, car broke down to due twin turbo related issue just 4 months after he brought it home.

Since then he had other minor issues which I am glad my 330i did not have.

Best to stay away from turbo cars, had my experience and wouldn't go back to one AGAIN. I can start telling you about my horror with my ex-Subaru STi..

I have a 335 coupe (2006)
One of the first delivered almost no issues after 2.5 years
Luck of the draw...at least when there is an issue I am looked after by Trivett at Parramatta.

LOL @ WOPALX

Good on him for drawing attention to his situation. I bet it will be looked after now that BMW and the dealership would be red faced.

As for Lemon Laws... you can bet Krudd and his Krew won't be able to help themselves to introduce yet another piece of legislation...

I'm reading about some of the issues with the 335 and am a bit concerned as i'm thinking of placing an order for one! Especially BMW330i's comment - i'm approaching 10 years of a happy ownership 528/325/330 and would hate things to change

Given the power and economy benefits of turbocharging, I don't think BMW330i will have too many options in the near future. My 335 has not missed a beat, coming up to 50K KM. The tractable power around town in the traffic where 90% of my driving is done is just fantastic, I could never go back to a normally aspirated engine (M3 excluded).

My 335 is the 5th turbo car I have owned (in a row) and despite over 150,000km clocked on these cars, I have NEVER had an issue.. I think its a bit of a blatant misrepresentation to write off turbo's as an option. Given the number of forced induction cars on the road (ever growing thanks to a recent change in manufacturign technology giving smaller displacement forced induction motors a distinct advantage with the "greens"), if they where all of questionable quality they would not be as popular as they are today.

Perhaps a more holistic view would be to look at the stereo type of market (and associated driver) that turbo cars generally attract. I highly doubt that anyone on these forums bought a 335i because they where value for money, or because they looked better than say a 320i. They/We/I bought them because of the performance. If you where to look at the number (as a percentage) of say 335i's that are driven hard, compared to say the number (again percentage) of 320's driven, I have no doubt it would be HEAVILY biased towards the 335i's.. this obviously would therefore lead to a higher number of failures.. push anything to the limit often enough, and it will break (sooner or later)

One last thing to ponder. Think again about the audience a car (such as a WRX, EVO, 335i) attracts.. As a gross generalisation, I would say a larger than average percentage are young to middle age, of reasonable to above average education and access (and interest) to the internet. There for you should reasonably expect that issues will be more frequently heard off than say a "grandpa" car (MB 500SL for example) the only person Grandpa is going to tell when his car is broken is the dealer..

end of rant
