faster I drive by unlocking car?
Someone mentioned somewhere that if one unlocks the car, that starts the Idrive start up, so that by the time one actually starts the car, the wait isn't so long. Probably this comment only applies to CA option, but I wanted to verify.
Is there any clever work around, for non CA, to get the Idrive to start more quickly ![]() |

Actually, this is more of a benefit of non-CA cars. With CA you would typically unlock the car at the door handle. However, when you unlock the car with the keyfob, you can simply unlock the car prior to reaching the car. This will allow the iDrive system to start loading ahead of time.
I notice this all the time on my car (no CA). If I unlock the car earlier, the iDrive start up time is significantly shorter.

I have CA and definitely notice this. If I unlock, then load my briefcase in the backseat or otherwise take some time before I get in and actually hit the start button, iDrive is ready to go right away when the car starts. If I just get right in and hit start, there is some boot-up time.

CA is not necessarily a negative. It seems that iDrive begins loading when the car is unlocked (maybe someone else can chime in, as I could always be wrong).
With CA, you generally unlock the car just before opening the door. So there is less time between the doors being unlocked and the car being started. If you unlock the doors a minute or so before starting the car, thats one less minute spent waiting for iDrive to load. You could always use the fob to unlock the door earlier even with CA.
