Finally decided to do all myself..

So I got a complete M3 DCT subframe + diff + complete drive shaft

And now how to adapt the M3 DCT drive shaft to the 335i 6MT gearbox?

The M3 is 1"shorter, and the holes are in a bigger circle, so finally I ended up to build an adapter plate 1" thick to match the gap...

Will see in spring when I will put all together.

So far so good, have not had any problems. I am still trying to find a DCT final drive as the manual is too short by miles. Lovely when you on the roll though but from standstill traction is a major issue.

Different bolt pattern at either end of shaft and diameter is different. Would require custom work.

My 3.15 final drive M3 LSD is waiting so long now to be installed

Sounds like he used the 335 first half of the driveshaft then used the m3 second half from the first section to the differential. I'm assuming the M3 subframe places the differential a bit closer to the trans than the 335 which is why it was necessary to shorten it.

Personally I'd prefer to go with a DCT M3 and keep the full M3 driveshaft with an adapter on the transmission side.

I had a close look at the junction point of the M3 shaft ant the one of 335i

It don't seems that both parts (M3 one side and 335i other side) can join together directly. they are 2 male or female. and we need a male and a female to join it.

so my idea is to use a 6MT M3 shaft that is 30mm shorter than the 335i and build an adapter plate at the gearbox side, it will bridge the gap and adapt the circle diameter of the bolts, M3 has 105mm and 335i has 95mm at gearbox

look at realoem for the driveshaft of M3 and 335i parts and you will understand 8read the comments on the parts table for circle diameter)

He uses a M3 LSD on the 335i subframe.

Yes the M3 shaft will end up shorter at the trans. will need to be measured on the car. I assume between 15 and 30mm

Then will need to machine this adapter, with 6 holes: 3 screws for the M3 axe on a circle of 105mm and 3 screws for the 335i gearbox on a circle of 95mm

still waiting, had clutch troubles and needed warranty work...

The task seems harder than expected to match the drive-shaft

The conversion so far has been bullet proof. In the interim I have swopped out the complete 3.85 diff to a 3.15 from the DCT. Again I failed to take pictures. I also managed to change the oil to the new spec LSD oil and the diff is much more qite.
The secret in matching the drive shaft is getting the correct components for your configuration. I would rather shorten then lengthen. In my case the rear is of the from a E92 M3 Manual the front section is from a 335 auto which had to be shortened ever so slightly. Remember my car is a auto so the gearbox might be longer in comparision to a manual.

How did you jouned the M3 with the 335i shaft?

I have a complete M3 shaft, but I figured out that the 2 pieces are "female" so no way to join them?

Please ask you shop how they achieved exactly.

Pictures would be better... but at least a description how to do it would be great!

sick thread...want to do this as well. Great info. Looks like I'll need to find a salvaged M3 for the rear, shaft, and few other things, but it sounds much worth the effort. Just not a big fan of the quiafe way of doing it. Nothing against them in particular, but if a factory LSD from another car can work, I would rather that.
