I picked up this vintage 1972 Rolex Submariner - a very rare variant with red lettering on the dial. They are very hard to come by, so even though the watch was in poor condition when I bought it, I was able to do a complete restoration. Like?

I've had one...very nice, but I actually prefer the white. It's more legible, and Rolex makes compartively fewer white dial watches.

Red Subs are bringing rediculously high prices these days....8k isn't unheard of. Double Red Sea-Dwellers are bringing over 20k.

although rolex isn't my personal taste (i like thinner watches), i must admit thats beautiful. restoration looks perfect. not a mark on it that i can see.

I actually just did a 2 part article series on the restoration project. Here's the "before" picture of what the watch looked like when I first bought it:

Wearing my IWC 3227 Ingenieur with pride I find myself wanting to wear my Sub all the time:More comfy. I traded in a 9-11 2001(no joke) ss Explorer II white dial, 1st owner, box/papers. 8/10 condition.Nice watch as well.
