Insurance for E92

OK, so everytime I use one of the internet car insurance forms, it searchs through its database and doesn't seem to acknowledge the existance of the 325i SE coupe auto. Confused.com, directline, sainsbury's - won't let me insure my car! The data base includes the manual but not the auto.

I phoned my current insurer - Sainsbury's - and amazingly the extra premium over my current car (Mercedes C200 auto) is only £43 (so £380 in total - albeit the extra premium is for just 8 months until the expiry of the existing policy. Yet the BMW costs £10k more, has a more powerful engine, is a coupe rather than a saloon and, dare I say it, BMW owners have a reputation for errrrr being more aggressive than us chilled out Mercedes owners. The £43 also includes a £15 'admin fee' for the change of car on the existing policy so the underlying increase is very little.

Anyone else experienced the same problems in using the web to source insurance for an E92 auto? I am wondering if the Sainsbury's call centre picked the right car - only the paper work will tell!

I pick up the new car in 2 weeks - yipee!

Audi A5 waddathink?

Audi A5 pix

certainly more aggressive than the E92 shape

If it drives and rides well (unlikely) I could easily see a 3.0Tdi appearing on my drive...

waddathink?

I've got to say that I've gone pretty off topic in a lot of threads, but this post is even more off-topic than anything I think even I have managed!

EDIT- glad of the move!

I had the same problem last sept...no 335D on database.

when my V5 Doc came thru for my 335 it showed 325, plus an address error....so we sent it back and it was returned address sorted still shows 325.

Last week we had a letter from the DLVA saying our V5 is incorrect and can we send it back.

Great system when it works

Paperwork has arrived

Paperwork has arrived and Sainsbury's have it down as a 325 CI coupe 2494....so 3 cm^3 out...close but not quite right and where did they get the CI from? - weird.

Ain't bureaucracy fun. It's nice to know that our money is being spent properly.

I found that when I changed from a 2.0 FocusGhia to the E46 320dSE the cost of my Insurance would have gone down.... if it weren't for all those pesky options. In the end, even with all the options added it wasn't much more.

my 335i auto has had to be insured as a 335i manual with optional auto box????

this sounds probable with the v5 error abaove..
