in car video of my 330d

Went to castle combe at the weekend, and had a quick track session. my first time ever on track in a car!

there was an eclectic mix of machines/abilities out there. Check me out up the arse of a badly driven (but quick) Supercharged E46 M3 (610BHP!!!) in my Diesel!! LOL

PS. Probably best watching without volume, as i forgot to turn the aircon off as i left pitlane, and thats the annoying noise you can hear throughout! (plus i was down on power because of this!!!!)

Was dead impressed with the grip levels and predictability of the car, i hope it showed a few people on the day, you don't need petrol to go quick!! my best lap was a 1.31 which is never going to get me an F1 drive next year, but it was a day aimed at fun and a taster to track life.

Nice one.

How did you video it?? Trackdays (IMO) usually ban handheld or sucker mount devices of any kind.

Have you got a bolt down camera jobby?

Smooth driving there dude, nice. I'd be too scared of hitting another car to take my motor on a track like that. If was going on a track, I'd be more confident in a sub 3k motor lol.

Brave boy going on track with your motah!

Took my company car out on Castle Combe a few years back, had a bit of an 'off' and had to sneak it into the bodyshop on Monday AM for repair before the boss found out!

Got away with it too!

Can't remember Carl, but I remember the armco closing up pretty bloody quickly for my liking!

And no pics! I wanted to hide the 'incident'!

Decent bit of footage, thanks.

You have a lot of spare tarmac on your exits, and if you also turn it a bit later I reckon you would be an awful lot quicker again

That old 944 was on air suspension?

And the M3... very erratic. If the FREDS were turned off then that would have been in the Armco in short order!

Who was the TDO? I didnt notice one example of overtaking with concent, looked very dodgy a lot of it!

Coombe is a great car circuit, but very bumpy.
Lots get caught out at the top of Avon and poor braking sees you turning in and braking over the huge depression

Was doing 1.22 ish in my little Honda, with over 120mph before the BZ for Quarry.

Have never really figured why Quarry claims so many victims... I found Tower the trickiest personally due to the camber.
And the fact you need to turn in really late and not get on the juice for a long time.

What tyres on the 330, and how did they fare? Any changes made to hot pressure etc?

No mate, not ban videoing - but ban handheld or sucker mount devices.

At Oulton and Donnington it's banned, so you have to have a bolted down camera mount, which is a pain.

Fair enough really. In a shunt that sucker mount camera or whatever will become a high speed missile flying round the car!!!

Even the sucker mount Racelogic GPS units are banned too at those tracks.

I'm suprised others don't follow.

Do it man! i glimpsed at the speedo once, saw just under 130mph on the s/f straight.

Tyres are goodyear eagle asymetric (NON RUN FLAT!!) and they offered bags of grip. in fact, it never felt anywhere near the edge.

You weren't going fast enough then

Seriously, anyone who liked this video who hasn't been on a trackday should get themselves booked in on a BMW CC Track day.

The BMW days are much quieter and less intimidating than your regular free for all track days.

Silverstone 6th Oct will be a great one. See the stickys.
