Galleria Ferrari

The final stop on my tour was at the Galleria Ferrari. Beforehand, we had a tour of the Ferrari factory... it's pretty much its own little city in Maranello. The Tubi factory is also closeby, if you happen to go there. Too bad I did not have pictures of this perimeter trip as I had just woken up from the huge lunch and long trip there.

Beforehand, we were given the opportunity to drive an entry-level Ferrari. I was originally going to drive the F430 Scuderia until the tour guide said the F458 was available. Obviously, I chose to drive that instead... now I understand why people love these cars. These cars pretty much do as told (turn, accelerate, etc). I don't have pictures of me in it but I do have some videos (including an onboard) that I'll try to put up later.

I also realize I look like a tool in the pictures but whatever.

Awesome pics. So were you on a guided tour of the museums? How were you given the opportunity to drive one?

www.motorstars.org. Tell them which Italian exotic factories you want to visit and he'll try to book you. Only thing you need to do is show up in Bologna or Modena.

Cool. I love the pics of the 641 you got. The F1 car with the black wings. Also the 312 Villeneuve used to drive and the room with the constructors championship-winning cars. The F2007 and F2008 look incredible. I miss those aero regs. The new cars don't look as futuristic as those two.

Yeah the shortened span of the wings of the new cars make them look weird. For some reason I am reminded of the early 90's cars.

Can both your parents drive stick? I really don't like the tip on the 997 (I don't like the steptronic on the 335i either). I've driven a C2 with tip (2006) and a 2010 C2S cab with PDK. I have mixed feelings about PDK, but the performance increase can't be ignored.

The 2005 C2's had a problem with IMS failure (intermediate shaft). Some have said it's from over revving, but others say it's just poor design. Regardless, there is a Porsche retrofit available, and it should be free.

It'll be a 997.1 C2S. My dad knows how to drive stick. My mom doesn't care because she isn't driving it at all, and would most likely be w/ somebody who can (everybody else in the family can). They just want to spend some money (not a whole lot) now that me and my brother have decent jobs. There is one in Long Beach that looks good.

Some of them were; at least the ones on the first floor. The one w/ the pit set up was Prost's.
