You have progressive rate springs, meaning, every bit of that coil is calibrated to give a specific ride quality.

Just hold out until spring, you want the extra clearance for the winter coming up, and by the time the snow melts, you can get some coilovers and slam that thing.

That is the amount of drop from stock ride height.

i think imma do that, thanks rich

initially klinkerklu said they were aftermarket shocks, but i think theyre the entire coilovers correct? in that case, ill just wait for those to come out, gotta start saving for it now!

Right...sorry, yes I was talking about coilovers. I'd suggest waiting for them.

So the front of your car is higher than the rear? What kind of a difference in lift has that made? Does the car still feel planted on the highway?

I didn't read the whole thread, so this may be a re-post...

You don't want to lower your car too much, bud. It's got drive axles in the front too, which you will add extra wear and tear to if you go too low. they already undergo extreme wear and tear from having to be on the steering end of the car. Trust me when I say you don't want to foot the bill to replace half shafts. It's like $900, I think. maybe more.

yeah, but since most FWD cars are cheap, like say a honda, it's no biggie to replace these axles. it's real money on a BMW! lol

Cutting My Springs (sung to the tune of My Favorite Things):

Bright bluish fog lights and big yellow stickers
Turn up the volume and my headlights will flicker
I think I look cool from the attention I bring...
Scraping the speed bumps from cutting my springs.

Large yellow shift lights on auto transmissions,
Speakers so loud that you'll scream in submission
My car really flies 'cause it has this big wing...
But nothing compares to cutting my springs.

When the bull stops, when the money talks, when I might lose face...

I suddenly remember what my car can't do, and then I refuse to race!

Day-glow orange shift knobs and whiteface temp gauges
Low profile tires make me think I'm courageous
Japanese characters, who knows what they mean?
They're just part of the package from cutting my springs!

Coffee can mufflers and Calvin is peeing
People around me don't like what they're seeing
They're all just so jealous, for I am the king...
I rule the streets after cutting my springs!

When night falls, when the girls leave, while I wait and wait...

If I'm such a stud after cutting my springs why can't I get a date?

I know guys that do that to e30s. If you do it, you only cut a little bit like a 1/2 inch at a time. Then you use a torch and straighten it. Kind of hard but there are some people who are good at it.

I woudlnt do it on a new e90. Arent the Bilstein's adjustable??

I spoke on the phone with a Dinan rep today - he said springs/suspension are 'in the works' for the 2006 e90 330xi. He couldn't give me a date range, but he said Dinan would definately have it soon.

I won't hold my breath, but I'm being optimistic.

dinan usually has very conservative drops. don't expect it to be lower than what h&r has.
