19" NT05s @ the Strip - Review

Took my 335 to the track last week on month old 275/30/19 NT05s (non-drag radial). Surprisingly, these tires hooked extremely well... No burnout, No dropping pressure, Best 60ft of the day was 1.84.

Not bad for street tires that have gotten great reviews at the roadcourses. Pretty good all purpose tires, we'll see how they fair with more power tho...

What pressure were you running.
I just got 275/40/17 NT05Rs last week. I went from 2.10-2.2 60' times on the Generals, (on the street) to 1.9-2.0s on the the Nittos. Running 25psi.

They sure are soft though. The down side is they went from 6mm tread depth to 5mm, in just about 30 minutes of driving through town, launching aggresively. (no burnouts). Will be more testing this weekend.

Yes they are fairly soft, your drag radial NT05s will be moreso. I had VHT to work with, which will help quite a bit, but was running ~ 36psi.

I ran the 275/45/17 555Drag radials on my mustang for years. Those were fairly well in the rain, and while they lasted much longer than BFG & MT's, they don't hook nearly as well. Although at the track they were good for mid 1.7s on roadcourse susp, even broke an axle with em. If you want to hook, look no further than the Mickeys, but Im interested to hear more about your NT05Rs though

hotrod, where did you buy your NT05R's? did you run 25psi on the street or just at the strip?

I have also gotten a 1.84 60' with street tires, mine were the Sumitomo htr zIII. Street tires can hook pretty well if you know how to launch good.
