Correct me if I'm wrong, but I looked at my 328i, and I believe it came with this strut bar installed, is it a reinforced part or something?

I'm sorry I'm new to all this so don't flame me, but when I look in my engine bay, there is definitely something there similar to the picture in the DIY. It looks almost exactly the same, if it isn't the strut bar, then what is it? A pretty bar?

Cool thread,
I just ordered mine today from Kreuth AutoJunker in Walldorf, Germany and it will be here in 4 days. Got a friend with a 325i and an aftermarket BMW strut bar on it and I can feel a definite difference when cornering hairpin turns while taking them at 50mph. The car feels and handles so much tighter and with such less "slip and give". Sorry though thread members...someone earlier in this thread made a comment about "oh yeah?...so when do you go 100mph on a daily basis???" Well, whoever that was...we live in Germany....we do it SEVERAL times a day when work and home are joined by THE AUTOBAHN! Sorry, whoever you were...we got it like that, DAWG!:rocks: :rocks: |

So I installed it today...noticeably tightens up the front end, which I found taking a bunch of tight curves fast. The steering is also minimally heavier.
It's nothing major, but it's not just eye candy either. Not bad for ~$200 |

One of my scarier rides was in a coworker's stock Mini >100mph on the Autobahn... (yes they go that fast stock, and no, they don't handle like a BMW...) ![]() |

I wonder if this mod would actually provide even greater benefit on an E93, given that car's inherently "flexier" chassis.

it wouldn't hurt to try it!
honestly speaking though, I think it probably offers just a tad more ridigity. Personally, I didn't feel any major difference, but then again, maybe I'm not taking corners hard enough to notice a difference. |
