San Francisco: hotel recommendations
I'm going to SFO next week for business. During the week, I'm staying outside of the city in San Ramon. Given that it's my first time to the area, I'm going to stick around for the weekend and check out the city. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good downtown hotel? I'm currently booked at the Grand Hyatt for about $150 / night, but am interested in hearing about either (a) cheaper places or (b) better luxury values.
Thanks.

Outside the city of San Ramon? I work in San Ramon and the city is about 40 minutes west from there. Only hotel I've stayed at in downtown SF is the Hilton on O'Farrel. I think it cost about $180 per night, but the location was convenient where you could walk downtown to Union Square, SF center, etc.. and the rooms were pretty nice.
Actually I've also stayed at the W in SF on 3rd street. I forgot how much the rooms were but I remember they were a little over $200 per night and the rooms were not all that great as far as size. I prefer the Hilton location over the W I stayed at. However, a few doors down is a strip club you can go to. So I guess that counts for something right |
