(GTA) Place to teach a girl how to drive stick

Alright guys, you're probably going to flame me for doing this but I'm going to let a gurl learn stick on my car. I'm wondering if any of you know of any good wide open, long flat, empty, parking lots or abandoned roads I could do it on in the GTA.

When I took classes from shifters for stick driving. The instructor liked to pick Bayview/Major Mac area...mainly on the smaller streets. Personally, I'd suggest any small roads you know of that has minimal traffic and no schools. The hardest part of manual driving is just stop and go anyways. My first 2 classes(45min each) consisted of stop->go and 1st->2nd -> stop and uphill/handbraking. Once the basics were taught everything else was a breeze.

I feel your pain. My 16 year has been learning stick on our beater and he's been hassling me about taking my car out

Anyhow, alot of time was spent in parking lots getting the stop and go to work. She'll need to build up not only the skill but self confidence. And for you, if youre riding along, be sure to know where the jesus bar is

Bolty, your 16yr old is both a he and she. Twins? :P

I believe shifters expects you to provide the car you'll be learning in, so it won't save you a clutch.

Crap. Was that confusing? When I said "she", I meant Pylon's wife.

Wow ... lucky girl. I would personally NOT let anyone learn how to drive in my BMW!

I used to have a beater that was stick shift - I taught ppl how to drive in that. I just went to an uptown office building parking lot on a Sunday when no one was there. Good luck!

actually our cars are pretty noob friendly with the CDV, i hope you haven't deleted it yet haha

that's what it was made for after all

when i taught my wife, we went to the finch station parking lot after dinner time... it's usually clear around 9ish

good place to learn, it's flat, long, has lines to practice parking, it's lit fairly well too!

we're all rooting for you man you better get some

No flaming from me, I encourage people to learn driving a manual.
Your car will be just fine, relax and enjoy.

Any home depot parking lot pretty much...it's all about going into 1st gear, 2nd and reverse...you don't need a ton of room for that..

Just make sure you scream at them when they ride the clutch! lol

I personally have no problems teaching ppl to drive stick with my car, but it just depends who though.

there are lots of places.

you might want to drive north a bit and you'll find large new shopping complexes like home depot, loblaws etc.,

i would recommend they ride the clutch instead of popping it.
