shopping trolley scratch and dent

Hi Guys

Some idiot manage to ram their shopping trolley into the side of my car while it was parked in a tesco car park. I didnít notice the damage until I got home, I was so pissed as I spent the whole of friday washing, polishing and waxing the car. Iíve only had it less than a month!

Can anyone recommend a good body shop or SSR in or around the Hounslow/Heathrow area?

Ah fuckers!

That wing is plastic right? I don't know how you go about removing a dent from plastic, perhaps with a heatgun or something.

Sorry that this has happened to you.

Quite, I always park at the opposite end of the carpark to the supermarket entrance. People are so careless/have so little respect for other people's property, frankly it's sickening.

My missus used to hate me for doing this (I even used to do with the my old Fiesta) but now she is starting to understand. I hate parking in amongst the hoi polloi because people knock trolleys around, kids (and adults) swing doors open and people pulling out of spaces often clip other parked cars.

I just try to keep as far away from all that as possible.

They always sem to show up worse on black cars don't they :-(
I got a similar scratch on mine from wheeling my lawnmower around the garden which showed up worse after waxing the car. I sprayed black paint into a can lid and painted over the scratch using the fine end of a cocktail stick. It sounds strange, but you van build up the layers so it doesn't stand out. Your big problem is the dent, which is either a job for a bodyshop, or maybe you could find a good second hand wing from a breaker or on Ebay?

The funny thing is I did park as far away from the store entrance as I could but I guess your car can never be 100% safe in a store car park. I was just unlucky that the idiot decided to park next to me!

Yeah I'm worried about the dent too, the one on the wing and the one on the top of the bumper (1st pic). I hope it doesnít cost too much to repair as Iím skint at the moment.
It makes me every time I look at it! Why donít supermarkets put a bit of plastic round shopping trolleys to stop this kind of thing happening?

Oh, man. I feel sorry for you. Here in the US the problem are FAT people. Old , two door cars swing open and don't give a shit about car next to them. I park further from the entrance, one side next to the curb, if possible. Look around to see the other card doors dented. But your damage is much worse. Good luck.

The wing is not plastic on the E90s and the bumper should be easy repair too. I reckon £125-150 to have that area repaired correctly maximum.

Wow thatís a lot cheaper than I thought it would have cost to get it repaired. Do you have pics of previous work carried out by Klear Autoworks?

I can recommend "A1 crash repair" off the A406, Ace corner.

They did a fantastic job on my bumper repair. No one has EVER noticed. It looks like a brand new bumper. And all for £180 for a full repair of a bumper cracked in two pieces, plus several other small dings, and then a full respray.

And the colour match is perfect..

So big + from me for those guys..

Utter d!ck heads.

It looks almost deliberate unless there were high winds to get the trolley up to speed!

Ouch! It made me cringe just looking at the pics.

If you go to the supermarket, park a loooonnng way from the entrance.

I also:
1. Don't park next to cars with child seats or obvious signs of kids
2. Don't park next to old beaters
3. If I have to park next to an old beater, check that it has door rubbing strips on it
4. Don't park next to trolley collection area
5. Don't park next to 2-door cars

Mate i feel for you, how can people be so stupid.

In terms of where you park, you can obviously never be that safe, I have a kid and im damn sure that I dont let her do anything stupid with the door, and I take equal care. Just because someone has child seats doesn't mean they dont give a shit....although i agree it increases your chances.

I always try and park in the parent and child places as although you may get a range rover next to you, the spaces are pretty big.

Hope you sort it out for a decent price.

Haha good advice, like it. Although you forgot number 6, Transit vans.
Trouble is, you can't control it if THEY park next to YOU when you're in the shop.
Would it really be that hard for trolleys to hava a soft plastic "bumper" around them? Would save all this grief. Still get the door dings though.....

Mike.

Sickening just too look at, I feel for you mate, similar happened to me not long ago. Other people's lack of consideration and general stupidity knows no bounds.

I agree with all the comments about parking far away, but for some reason, no matter where I park, whenever I come back, someone is parked right up close next to me......even if there are 20 empty spaces either side and I'm half a mile away from the store......makes me so angry - what is wrong with these people?

Thanks for the sympathy guy, much appreciated. I got a few quotes done today from different body shops and the price ranges from £200 - £380 to respray both the front wing and front bumper.

Same happened to me a few days ago. Popped into the supermarket, parked in clear space well away from the door.

Anyway I am making a call home to ask if there is anything I can pick up while in the shop, just then a 1 series arrives and randomly (lotsa free spaces around) parks one space away from me, that's fine.

Less than 30 seconds later a pillock in an A4 sportline rolls up and parks in the space between us!
So now there are 3 cars all parked snugly together in the arse end of nowhere

I thought about re-starting the car and moving to another spot but thought .. really what's the point!
