So the N55 uses the same HPFP? In BMW's statement it shows:
2007–2010 335i models. with no mention of the 2011 models. I know several members on here say the 11's are having issues too? So chances are they will not recall the 11's till the problem is more widespread? I'm just wondering why they would leave it out if it is the exact same fuel pump.

I had been planning on getting a 335i but am not impressed with BMW's actions up to and including today's press release. The 328i is looking to be a safer choice unless BMW definitively corrects this problem. |

Mods should delete all the other threads and just make one main thread so all the info is at one area.
I gotta see my dealer for a alarm install. Ill ask and see where the Canadians are at.

Reprogramming
I'm sure it won't be long until we hear reports of those who got the fix performed having lots of lag, due to the reflashing. It's going to cause a $hitstorm on that front all over again.

BFD, they've already been replacing them as they go anyway. I don't really consider this a big deal.

I think the funny thing about all of this is that BMW issues a recall after 3 years of complaints with absolutely no clear cut solution. What are they going to do? Reinstall older, re-manufactured pumps and detune the cars software?
![]() Thanks BMW for making my $50K car slower and giving me an old, used car part (I hope ABC mentions this pathetic solution tonight). Unfortunately, this problem continues with the newer N55 engines (albeit maybe not with the same frequency) and there is absolutely no mention of that in this story. I had my 335i N55 fuel pump fail at 1500 miles on the odometer with absolutely the same symptoms. If anyone has a POC at ABC and wants me to share my story with them, I will gladly do so, PM me their contact info. This makes BMW look really sh**ty to anyone that knows the full story. At least, Kudos to ABC for tackling this issue and at least bringing it to a national spotlight! |

Mr. Baloga should seriously consider changing his name to Mr. Baloney. (Or if he wants to seem more Yourpe'en, Mr. Bologna). THIS is the BMWNA Chief Engineer? Hevvin help us 335i owners.

Yes, and that's what's so infuriating. After all this time, and being outed by ABC, all we're getting is more of the same.
I'm quickly losing all remaining respect for BMW. Sad.

Ive been getting more and more disappointed in BMW... Now that I hear that driving dynamics in the 5 series are a let down from the previous 5 series, Im really wondering what my next car will be.

Not true my friend. When my pump failed I was going 75MPH in the number one lane of one of the busiest freeways in Southern California. The engine did not just loose some power, it stalled completely, no power, nothing. I had to quickly coast across 5 lanes of traffic to get to the soft shoulder. Luckily it was a Sunday otherwise I very easily could have been stranded in the middle of the freeway. Not what I would consider a safe situation to be in.

Here's a link to the Nightline segment, basically a rehash of the GMA piece: http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/bmw-adm...ry?id=11968495
