On the jb3 site it says map 5 needs 93 oct. Your list says 91oct plus dci throws down a great number! What gives?

This chart is also missing GIAC Stage 2!

Also, you GIAC advertises Stage 1 to gain 40-80 hp and 60-90 tq. I think you are selling this tune short.

This is a great idea and I'm sure took a lot of work to do to compile all of this data. Thanks! This is a tremendous help for a newbie who is interested in getting the most out of his car (me!!!) Sine I am now deciding on a tune, this is extremely useful.

Hi AltecBX,

Awesome stuff. In your research, did you come across some information/statistics about troubles (engine failures, voided warrenties due to detection, etc) for the different tuners that you could share with us? Are some safer than others?

There really hasn't been to much engine failures with these tunes. You start getting into trouble if you really start pushing the envelope by increasing boost over 20+ psi. As for warranties and detection issues, it all depends on your relationship with dealer. If you have on of these tunes installed, remove it before going into a dealership if you're going to do major work to your car, no matter how much you know them(turbo replacement, wastegates, fuel-pump,plugs&coils, etc). If its light work like(oil change, brakes, air filter, software updates, etc) in the most part you'll be fine leaving it in.

Great post. I've had my JB3 for about 12 months and love it. I have always wondered if there is a benefit to buying the $1000+ tuners.

By the way. BimmerSpeed is giving 15% off any cp-e products during their grand opening. The coupon code is CPE15. I think it works for other stuff too. www.bimmerspeed.net

Dude,

For the 1000-th time, add GIAC Stage 2 and Stage 2+....

I'll work on it this coming month. I've been waiting on the new product from BMS to come out that was suppose to be out by year end.

I think the ESS directflash tune for the N54 should be put onto the chart...stage 1 and stage 2.

DirectFlash Stage 1 :
Top Speed Governor: Removed
RPM Limit: 7000RPM
Fuel requirement: 91US/95Euro
Horsepower: 355 DIN (Stock 306)
Torque: 480NM (Stock 400NM)

DirectFlash Stage 2 :
Top Speed Governor: Removed
RPM Limit: 7200RPM
Fuel requirement: 93US/98Euro
Horsepower: 400 DIN (Stock 306) - 390DIN if used with stock intercooler
Torque: 550NM (Stock 400NM)

It is a very valid option for the N54 and it works straight up...PnP.

BMW Dinan warranty

The Dinan mode does not cancel the BMW NA warranty. I had Danin S2 installed on my 335i at the Dinan shop immediately after I bought the car. Since than I had many warranty services done in my local BMW dealership, including updates of the Dinan software without any problems. Just the opposite, they give you a special attention.

I rarely see any love for the Split Second TT2 piggyback sold by Bavauto.. Im thinking of a software product for my N55 135i and am just surveying the field. Since I have years left on my new car warranty/srvc, which of these products is easiest to remove and reinstall? I realize the JB4 is not available, nor the Procede as of yet.. The Cobb Accessport sounds ideal to me because its a flash and no hardware to remove. But it, too, is not N55 ready yet. However the TT2 does seem to be sold for the N55s.. comments? thanks.

from what i've read, it appears that the JB4 makes more power and is a bit smoother during driving AND wide open throttle conditions.

but the steering controls and "on the fly map switching" seems to be really giving JB4 a head of steam.
